Job description

$2,000 sign on bonus

We are looking for a Diesel Technician III to join our team in Joliet. The Diesel Technician III will strive to meet or exceed goal times for repairs. Able to work unsupervised for extended periods of time and assist in training technicians in lower job classifications.
Schedule: Sunday night through Friday morning 9pm to 5:30am 
Starting hourly rate between $33 - $35
Sign on bonus to paid out in installments: First payment of $500 to be paid after 90 days and second payment $500 to be paid after 180 days, $1000 at one year.

Training & Experience: 
Minimum of six (6) years practical experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
• Specialized training and/or experience in the overhaul of major components (i.e., Mack – Cummins - Detroit Diesel Engines, etc.).
• Be proficient in the use of all tools of the trade (Welding equipment, power tools and shop machinery).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to at least 50 lbs.
• Good driving record with valid driver's license.
• Ability to drive automatic transmissions and use of PTO.
• Superb communication skills (verbal and written).
Major Function: 
  • Properly diagnose, overhaul, adjust and repair all series of truck and trailer equipment including but not limited to the following:
• Engines (Gas and Diesel) – Diagnose, remove, and rebuild and reinstallation, as necessary.
• Transmissions (Manual & Automatic) – Diagnose, remove rebuild and reinstallation, as necessary.
Differential/Power Dividers – Diagnose, remove, rebuild and reinstallation, as necessary.
Starters/Alternators – Diagnose, remove, repair, and replace as censer.
• Air Conditioning Systems – Trained/Certified, diagnose electrical and mechanical defects, repair, component replacement, evaluation, and charging.
Fan Clutches – Diagnose, remove, rebuild and reinstallation, as necessary.
• Power Steering Systems - Diagnose, adjust, and repair, as necessary.
Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems – Diagnose, remove, rebuild, reinstallation, and adjustment, as necessary. Brake certified.
• Clutches – Diagnose, remove and reinstallation, as necessary.
• PTO Systems – Installation of PTO System and related hydraulic components. Diagnose, remove rebuild and reinstallation and adjustment, as necessary.
• Tires – Remove, install and algin chassis.
• Engine Electronics (Gas and Diesel) – adjust and repair, as necessary.
Working Conditions:
• Work outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Exposure to used cooking oil odors.
Specific Duties 
• Perform all levels of preventative maintenance.
• Identify and determine parts require for repair of disassembled units.
• Identify warrantable repairs and document appropriately.
• Maintain work area appearance and safety.
• Road test vehicles as necessary.
• Performance and prospective duties in a timely and efficient matter.
• All duties of lower job classifications.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures.
• Fully participate and support all safety initiatives.
• Think safety and continually scan the work environment; make suggestions for corrections and improvements.
• Other duties as assigned.
