Position Description
Weisman Equipment Company, Ltd. is seeking a skilled and dedicated Field Service Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment in the field to ensure optimal performance. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Position Requirements
Responsibilities:
• Run diagnostic tests to identify mechanical issues in diesel engines and related systems
• Replace or repair malfunctioning components, including engines, transmissions, steering systems and brake systems
• Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, fluid level checks and tire rotations
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles, including diagnostic results and repair procedures
• Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies required for repairs
• Keep the work area clean and organized
• Identify mechanical problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding transportation and safety
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent, with vocational training or an associate's degree in diesel technology being advantageous
• Two years of related experience preferred
• Practical experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components, diagnostic tools and repair techniques
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments
• Ability to follow checklists and procedures accurately
• Ability to interpret diagnostic test results and identify the root cause of problems
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work some weekends as needed
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to work safely in a noisy area
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain, sleet, etc.
