Job description

EJ Equipment Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Service Mechanic to join our team in Manteno, Illinois. This is a full-time, hourly position in the Commercial Heavy Equipment industry. As a Diesel Service Mechanic, you will be responsible for providing high-quality service and maintenance to diesel equipment and vehicles. You will be working on a variety of diesel engines, including but not limited to trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other heavy equipment. This is an individual contributor role, and you will report directly to the Service Manager.

Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel equipment and vehicles, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, and brake repairs.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Complete necessary repairs and replacements on diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct thorough inspections of diesel equipment and vehicles, to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate and detailed service records and reports.
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, providing updates on repair progress and recommendations for preventative maintenance.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols in the shop and on job sites.
- Keep up-to-date with industry advancements and changes in diesel technology.
- Collaborate with other technicians and departments to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with strong knowledge of diesel engines and equipment.
- Must have own tools and a valid driver's license.
- Experience in the auto industry is preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional overtime.
- Must be able to lift heavy equipment and stand for extended periods.
