Job description

Perma-Seal Basement Systems, a trusted family-owned company serving Chicagoland homeowners for over 45 years, is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team.

What You'll Do
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fleet vehicles, trailers, and construction equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance including oil changes, brake service, tire rotations, fluid changes, and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot engine, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, steering, suspension, and brake systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic software and specialized tools to identify and repair mechanical issues.
  • Complete DOT inspections and ensure equipment remains safe and compliant.
  • Maintain accurate repair records and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate repairs to minimize equipment downtime and keep our fleet operating efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Fleet Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or Truck Mechanic (5+ years preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, brakes, suspension, and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience repairing trucks, trailers, and construction equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Proficiency using diagnostic software and repair equipment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Automotive or Diesel Technician certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a non-CDL Class C license.
