ย Job Summary:

Reporting to the Die Manager, the Die Corrector is responsible for the setup, repair, correction, and cleaning of dies, die rings, and backers used in manufacturing aluminum extrusions. The Die Corrector is responsible for checking in new dies, inspecting extrusion samples on new dies, and documenting changes sent to die vendors on problem dies.ย 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disassembles and cleans diesย 
  • Repairs and corrects dies to precise specificationsย 
  • Troubleshoots die problems and uses various bench and hand tools to alter and repair dies to precise tolerances, dimensions, and flatness
  • Operates milling machines, grinders, and other die shop equipment
  • Processes dies and tools through caustic cleaning areas and determines which dies require repair, polishing, or return to storage
  • Nitride dies according to established guidelines and processes
  • Inspects new dies for compliance to design tolerances and customer specifications
  • Analyses extrusion and die performance data, leading to corrections or changes in dies to improve performance
  • Maintains documentation on repairs of dies and tools
  • Die Corrector must work with caustic and be able to operate a crane to lift heavier dies



Requirements

ย Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED required
  • 2-year minimum experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must regularly lift 25 pounds, frequently lift 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with a partner
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to use calipers, micrometers, bore scope, and feeler gauges
  • Read, write, and speak English
  • Aluminum extrusion die experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and EPICS (ERP) preferred
