Role Summary

Leading the on-site investigation for electrical hardware ECU failures RCA (Root Cause Analysis)
and troubleshooting vehicle ECU-related failures.


Rivian is seeking a world-class leader to serve in the ECU HW Diagnostics Engineer role who will
build and lead the issue resolution for repetitive concerns found in vehicles during production,
launch and field environments.


Responsibilities

Support Vehicle Electrical ECU Hardware/Software Issues at our Normal, IL Plant and maintain
manufacturing output.
Work cross-functionally with other teams on root cause analysis.
Work closely with offsite engineering for trials.
Lead the failure analysis on ECU defects found in Factory and in-warranty.
The role encompasses hands-on testing and deep circuit analysis of ECUs.
Develop metrics to show trends and ongoing continual quality improvement
Drive issues back to the owner for assessment and corrective/preventive action.
Report on findings to upper management.
Influence future design direction and technology improvements with Product Development.
Work on hands-on projects with Benches, testers, and vehicles.
COLLABORATE WITH:
Manufacturing teams to identify, understand, and resolve issues
General Assembly, EOL and Operations to identify areas of concern and drive containment
Engineering teams (Electrical/Software/Mechanical) to coordinate onsite activities, resolve, and
root cause problems
Failure Analysis Labs to gather information and review data and evidence


Qualifications

BS+ Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or Equivalent
Ability to collaborate with line workers and other engineers
Experience on major vehicle/Product launches, PCBA, and Diagnostics
3+ years of experience working in a product development or volume manufacturing environment
Curiosity to dive deep into electrical, software, and mechanical issues
Ability to use diagnostic tools (oscilloscope, DMM, CANalyzer, calipers) to aid in debugging
Demonstrated Strong Creative thinking and problem-solving toolbox.
Strong knowledge of reading electrical schematics.


Pay Disclosure

The salary range for this role is $89,900 - $112,400 for Normal, IL-based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including but not limited to specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual performance bonus and equity awards.

We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits, including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. Full-time employee coverage is effective on their first day of employment. Part-time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
