The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team of Retail Agents and Lead Retail Agents across DHL-owned Service Points to deliver best-in-class customer experience and achieve business growth objectives. The Retail Sales Manager oversees the overall performance and operations of a portfolio of retail locations within a defined multi-state geographic area, with accountability for revenue growth, operational execution, compliance, safety, security, and customer satisfaction.

The Retail Sales Manager develops and executes market-level business strategies to drive revenue, increase market penetration, and identify opportunities for store growth and optimization. This role partners cross-functionally with Sales, Retail Infrastructure, Engineering, Operations, and other key stakeholders to ensure consistent execution of company standards while maintaining high-performing retail locations. The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for developing talent, driving operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements across all assigned locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, develop, and support Lead Retail Agents and Retail Agents across a portfolio of retail locations within a multi-state geographic market; provide consistent feedback and guidance to drive employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and business results.
  • Drive revenue growth and market performance by developing and executing local business plans, identifying growth opportunities, and implementing initiatives that increase customer acquisition, retention, and shipment volume.
  • Provide overall operational leadership for assigned retail locations, ensuring consistent execution of company programs, policies, procedures, and organizational objectives.
  • Support and resolve complex customer escalations while reinforcing a customer-first culture and maintaining DHL's best-in-class service standards.
  • Monitor and manage staffing levels, workforce planning, recruiting, and talent development to ensure operational readiness and succession planning across the assigned market.
  • Partner with Retail Executives and cross-functional stakeholders to improve store performance, increase revenue, and maintain profitability within the assigned geographic area.
  • Identify and support market development opportunities, including store growth, network optimization, facility enhancements, and initiatives that improve customer access and market coverage.
  • Work closely with Retail Infrastructure and Engineering teams to oversee facility standards, maintenance priorities, and operational readiness across all assigned locations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, safety and security standards, and regulatory requirements through regular review, auditing, and performance management.
  • Utilize operational and business performance metrics to monitor results, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive operational excellence across all assigned retail locations.
  • Manage store image standards, customer feedback channels, and online reputation, including oversight of Google reviews and customer experience initiatives.
  • Travel routinely throughout the assigned geographic market to provide leadership, operational support, performance oversight, and employee development.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams across multiple locations, with a proven ability to coach, develop, and drive performance.
  • BS/BA or MS/MA and 5+ years of leadership experience in retail, logistics, transportation, operations, or a related customer-facing environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle escalations
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (additional experience with a CRM system is preferred)
  • Successful academic and professional track record
  • Flexibility for routine travel
  • Creative and innovative thinking in bringing successful resolutions to high impact, and complex problems
  • Experienced selling in the transportation/logistics industry is preferred
