Job description

The Manager, Human Resources, Ingredients Operations reports to the Director, HRBP , Ingredients Operations. The role acts as an HR partner to the plant and for Ingredients Dairy Powders.

The Manager, HR will deliver HR programs and processes that support DFA's business strategy and values.

This role will deliver business aligned, value adding solutions across a range of HR areas including; talent management, learning and development, employee engagement, employee relations, leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and strategic workforce planning.

People Plan

  • Provides input to and delivers on the Operational HR Plan for the plant.

HR Partnering:

  • Influences and builds relationships with leaders in the plant to reinforce HR's position as a trusted advisor to the business
  • Provides coaching and support to leaders to drive performance that enables the delivery of superior outcomes

Talent Management:

  • Uses the DFA talent process to identify critical roles and talent in the client group
  • Supports leaders to have strategic talent and succession discussions to meet their groups needs

Recruitment

  • Manages the non-exempt recruitment and onboarding needs for the client site
  • Works with the Talent & OD CoE on exempt recruitment needs
  • Administer new employee orientation, location specific training, and Dairy University training

Capability Development

  • Identifies key capability gaps in the client group, both technical and leadership
  • Coaches' leaders and provides the tools (from the CoE) to enable them to build effective individual development plans and actions

Performance Management

  • Delivers the annual Performance and Development process
  • Coaches' leaders on the performance planning and review processes including goal setting and giving effective feedback

Culture and Employee Engagement

  • Provides guidance and feedback to leaders to reinforce the desired behaviours that will build the culture
  • Works with the business to identify and deliver actions that will drive an increase in employee engagement

Compensation

  • Manages the annual compensation and bonus review with the client group/s, using the DFA framework and delivers within budget

Employee and Labor Relations

  • Provides advice on employee issues and manages the resolution processes across a range of issues including leave, workers compensation, investigation and policy and process queries
  • Provides guidance and support in case management of people related grievances and other investigations
  • Escalates issues to the ER team, to recommend appropriate action and resolve complex cases and disputes, when required
  • Process all terminations and disciplinary actions
  • Coordinate enrollment of employees in the DFA benefits plan
  • Manage and partner with the leadership team providing direction to the union relations and union contract

Diversity and Inclusion

  • Coaches and guides leaders to understand how D&I strategies and actions contribute to business success

Business Integration and Change

  • Engages with leaders to understand people's capacity and readiness for change

Organization design and strategic workforce planning

  • Works with leaders to identify and build future workforce capability requirements for the business to sustain strategic imperatives

Operational

  • Manages the time and attendance process at the client site to ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Manages the payroll process for the client team and ensures compliance requirements are met
  • Attends to other operational people issues as required
  • Serve as a representative for unemployment hearings, grievances, arbitrations and contract negotiations

Team Leadership (as appropriate)

  • Builds and manages a high performing team who deliver on people plan initiatives
  • Creates and maintains a positive work climate by inspiring and engaging the team
  • Conducts quality performance and development conversations and provides regular feedback to support professional growth
  • Develops the capability of team members

Union Relations

  • Manage and partner with the leadership team providing direction to union relations and union contract

Security / EHS

Provide support to plant meets current regulatory and corporate requirements through corporate HR/Safety programs
