Job Summary:
The Bone Density Technologist (DEXA Technologist) is responsible for performing bone density exams with current and proficient experience. The role involves operating DEXA equipment to assess bone health, ensuring accurate and safe patient care. This position requires certification and licensure including OBMI, ARRT, RT (R), and BLS, and focuses exclusively on bone density testing without performing general X-rays. Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform bone density exams accurately and efficiently using DEXA technology.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
  • Maintain and operate DEXA equipment in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Document and report exam results clearly and accurately.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to support patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety protocols.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Current and proficient experience in bone density exams (DEXA).
  • Active ARRT certification and RT (R) licensure through OBMI.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to operate DEXA equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and patient care skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience working in a short term acute care facility environment.
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic medical record system.
Special Considerations:
  • No on-call duties required.
  • No weekend or block scheduling required.
  • Position floats between units is not applicable.
  • Patient to technologist ratio expected to be 1:1.
Scheduling:
  • Standard day shifts with no weekend or on-call requirements.
  • Shift assignments are fixed without block scheduling.
