Container Platform Engineer Sr in  GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

Demonstrated expertise in container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestrating containerized applications. 

- Advanced proficiency in automation and scripting languages such as Ansible, Bash, Python. 

- Solid understanding of CI/CD methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or equivalent technologies. 

- Knowledge of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in a hybrid environment, including experience with Terraform. 

- Insights into distributed systems, including performance analysis and optimization. 

- Proficiency in Linux administration and system internals. 

- A thorough understanding of hybrid cloud and on-premises computing services alongside virtualization technologies. 

- A strong inclination towards creating and maintaining detailed documentation, with an emphasis on automation. 

- Experience with observability tools, with a preference for the Grafana/Prometheus stack. 

- A robust mindset towards embracing DevOps methodologies and understanding of platform engineering practices.

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 7 years Experience working in DevOps engineering, Platform engineering or similar positions with a focus on container technologies. preferred. Foundational Red Hat Certifications and container technologies (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.), or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) strongly preferred.. . Other Other Licenses/Certifications Such as Docker, Kubernetes, or foundational Red Hat certifications preferred. Position Purpose: As a Sr Container Platform Engineer, your mission is to craft a robust, self-service platform that empowers application development and deployment. Merging operational expertise with engineering innovation, you will drive the operationalization, automation, and observability of our container platform. You will spearhead the development of self-service capabilities for microservices onboarding, streamline deployment automation, and foster collaboration across Business Technology and engineering teams to integrate new applications and services.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Champion the architecture, deployment, and management of our OpenShift Platform Plus container orchestration system and its ecosystem .
  2. Innovate and develop automation and frameworks to enhance deployment and operational workflows, increasing platform dependability .
  3. Promote a continuous improvement culture by working with cross-functional and operations teams, incorporating DevOps practices throughout the application lifecycle .
  4. Design our container platform architecture to meet application demands while upholding security and compliance principles .
  5. Ensure architectural choices bolster system reliability, scalability, and performance, supported by proactive monitoring .
  6. Troubleshoot and refine platform performance, maintaining optimal availability and scalability .
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
  1. Direct experience with OpenShift Platform or OPP is highly regarded.
  2. An Agile mindset and familiarity with tools like Azure DevOps are essential.
  3. Knowledge of the ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) stack is a plus.
  4. Experience with GitOps operational frameworks, such as ArgoCD, is a distinguishing factor.
