Job description

This position reports to:

Procurement Manager

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The work model for the role is onsite in Senatobia, Mississippi.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Perform supply chain and procurement analyses using Excel to evaluate supplier performance, material costs, inventory trends, and sourcing opportunities, supporting data-driven purchasing decisions.
  • Solicit and compare vendor quotations, gathered supplier information, and collaborated with cross-functional teams to identify cost-effective sourcing solutions while maintaining quality and delivery requirements.
  • Conduct supplier and material assessments, including cost analyses, raw material evaluations, and cycle time reviews, to identify risks, optimization opportunities, and potential cost savings.
  • Utilize SAP ERP to manage procurement activities, maintain purchasing records, track supplier data, and support daily sourcing and supply chain operations.
  • Apply procurement standards, tools, and processes to support quality, cost, delivery, and sustainability objectives while ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and business ethics requirements during supplier interactions and negotiations.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field at an accredited university in the United States.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.
