As a Well Operations Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting the planning, performance, and optimization of SECURE's well operations. This role is based in Calgary, Alberta

The Team

You'll join a collaborative, knowledgeable team that values open communication, continuous learning, and shared success. Working closely with operations, regulatory, finance, and technical specialists, you'll contribute to meaningful work while learning from experienced professionals across the business.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based with opportunities to visit field operations and gain firsthand exposure to well activities. In our fast-paced environment, you'll balance analytical work with cross-functional collaboration, supporting projects that help deliver safe, reliable, and efficient operational outcomes.

A Day in The Life
  • Provide technical support to the Well Operations team in well planning, well monitoring, performance analysis, and well optimization initiatives
  • Support performance improvement through operational planning, data analysis, and post-operation reviews
  • Review historical well performance data to identify optimization opportunities; assist with optimization planning, execution planning, and project management of well optimization activities
  • Assist the Project Controller in the preparation, tracking, and accuracy of well budgets, forecasts, and operational costs, including timely submission of monthly well expenditures
  • Develop and maintain accurate project cost tracking and reporting for both existing and development wells
  • Support SECURE's regulatory programs, including disposal scheme applications (D51), regulatory operational planning, compliance tracking, and regulatory submissions
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date well files, operational records, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate with internal teams (operations, regulatory, and finance) to ensure alignment of well information, costs, and schedules
  • Provide general analytical and administrative support to the Well Operations team as required
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • A recent engineering degree from an accredited program
  • 2-4 years of industry experience considered an asset
  • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with operations, regulatory, finance, and other cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel to field locations as required
