The Role
As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, documentation, programming, and the building of custom robotic Automation Systems. This position requires a strong technical ability in the fields of controls and electrical design and is for a motivated individual who enjoys a variety of responsibility. This position reports to Controls Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Controls Engineer will work on various stages of automation and control projects including: electrical design, PLC programming, HMI and SCADA design and development, Networking design and troubleshooting/testing/debugging
  • Provide written functional requirement specifications and sequence of operation documents
  • Interface with Mechanical and Electrical engineering to develop robust and efficient to program designs
  • Assist electricians in debugging machine wiring
  • Write PLC programs for newly developed machines using Convergix base templates and programming standards
  • Debug powered on machines to verify mechanical and programming functionality meets customer's requirements and Convergix's standards of quality.
  • Deliver an extraordinary customer experience by interfacing with clients and project managers to provide status updates, attend client field service and emergency calls, partake in customer meetings, and ability to share your technical expertise

Qualifications and Experience
  • PLC programming experience:
    • Proficient in Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs
    • Experience developing PLC programs from scratch
  • Robotic integration experience:
    • Exposure to FANUC, ABB, and/or Kukka
  • Comfortable working with Siemens HMIs
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings
  • Understanding of custom industrial machine design
  • Reliable transportation and an ability to travel up to 90% you should have the ability to travel within US and Canada

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds.
