Overview

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to manage and optimize our cloud infrastructure, IoT device integrations, and identity/access management systems. This role is essential for ensuring secure, cost-efficient operations as we scale our manufacturing execution system (MES) platform, Synovate, to support rapid client growth.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Cost Optimization

  • Manage and optimize cloud resources on Azure (primary) with cost efficiency as a key metric
  • Implement costsaving strategies including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Spot Nodes
  • Monitor resource utilization and provide regular reporting on cloud spend and optimization opportunities
  • Develop and maintain serverless components using Azure Functions for highvolume workloads
  • IoT & Device Integration
  • Manage IoT device integration and sensor data ingestion pipelines
  • Implement and maintain communication protocols (MQTT, OPC) for industrial device connectivity
  • Ensure reliable data flow from edge devices to cloud infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues and optimize data transmission performance
  • Identity & Access Management
  • Implement and manage identity solutions using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Configure and maintain endpoint management via Microsoft Intune (MDM)
  • Establish and enforce governance frameworks for access control and security policies
  • Manage user provisioning, authentication flows, and rolebased access controls
  • Infrastructure & Security
  • Implement secure secret management solutions (Docker Secrets, Azure Key Vault)
  • Configure and maintain network security including VPN solutions and network policies
  • Ensure TLS/HTTPS is enforced across all connections and services
  • Required Qualifications
  • Cloud Platform Expertise: Handson experience configuring and managing Azure resources, with demonstrated cost optimization results
  • Azure Cost Management: Proven experience with Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot Nodes, and Azure Cost Management tools
  • Identity & Governance: Experience implementing Microsoft Entra ID and endpoint management with Intune
  • IoT/Integration: Familiarity with IoT device integration, sensor data pipelines, and protocols like MQTT or OPC
  • Serverless Architecture: Practical experience developing and monitoring Azure Functions in production environments
  • Containers & Infrastructure: Proficiency with Docker and container orchestration platforms
  • Security Fundamentals: Understanding of secret management, TLS/HTTPS, and network security principles
  • OnPrem Infrastructure architecture and deployment experience.

  • Experience with AWS/GCP as a secondary cloud platform
  • Network engineering background including VPN solutions (WireGuard) and industrial network configuration
  • Experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude) with best practices for ADRs, Markdown documentation, and repository scans
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks (SOC2, IATF, CMMC, ISO 27001)
  • Experience with timeseries databases and monitoring tools (i.e. Grafana, TimescaleDB)
  • Background in manufacturing or industrial environments
