Job description

Early Intervention Developmental Specialist
May Center for Early Intervention | May Institute
Full-Time | Community-Based

As an Early Intervention Developmental Specialist, you'll partner with families of infants and toddlers (birth-3) to support developmental growth during the most critical years of life. Through home visits, community-based services, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, you'll help children build the skills they need to thrive.
What You'll Do
Deliver family-centered services
  • Provide home and community-based visits using developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed strategies
  • Support children in fully participating in inclusive community settings with typical peers
  • Conduct telehealth sessions as needed

Lead IFSP coordination and progress monitoring
  • Partner with families to develop, implement, and update Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs)
  • Coordinate services and supports identified in the IFSP
  • Monitor functional outcomes and complete six-month reviews and required documentation
  • Assist with transition planning at least six months prior to discharge, including referrals and participation in IEP meetings when applicable

Collaborate and advocate
  • Serve as a liaison between families, ancillary providers, and school systems
  • Participate in multidisciplinary assessments and team meetings
  • Ensure services and communication are culturally and linguistically responsive

Maintain compliance and documentation
  • Complete session notes and required paperwork within established timelines
  • Maintain accurate records for assigned children
  • Follow DPH and organizational standards for documentation, confidentiality, and training

What You'll Bring
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field
  • Minimum of four approved 3-credit courses focused on infants and toddlers
  • At least 300 hours of practicum or work experience with children under age five
  • Strong time management skills
  • Works well as part of a team

Preferred
  • Bilingual skills
  • Experience in home-based or community-based early intervention services
  • Knowledge of IFSP development and transition planning
