Job description

Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Job Category: Service Provider
Reports To: Program Director
Basic Functions: Provide prevention, assessment and remediation services to patients who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency.
Scope: SLP leads the Speech Therapy process in development, implementation, and coordination of the speech-language therapy program and participating in business operating duties.
Qualifications:
  • Certification of Clinical Competence with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • License or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department
  • Graduation from Accredited Speech-Language Pathology Master's Program
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works towards fulfilling Company's Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Selects/implements evidence-based practices which supports the goals and objectives of the speech-language program.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual treatment programs.
  • Monitors and reassess the effects of speech-language therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.
  • Teaches, monitors, and collaborates with support personnel and patient family to facilitate skills in areas of speech and language.
  • Participates in team discussions in an articulate, positive, and productive manner.
  • Maintains assigned equipment in proper working order. Performs routines repairs.
  • Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attends departmental/business staff development activities.
  • Maintains proficiency in speech-language therapy by attending workshops, conferences and trainings offered by other therapists.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services and participates in Company committees as requested by supervisor.
  • May represent the Company while participating in community outreach events, activities, meetings, trainings, etc.
  • Responds to emergency situations in a competent manner.
  • Adheres to SLP licensure requirements.
  • Adheres to established guidelines within Company's Official Documents.
  • Assists in quality management, research, public relations, and program development projects when appropriate.
  • Participates in Company's Professional Development Plan.
  • May be assigned to be a clinical supervisor for assistant level students.
  • Carries out all responsibilities professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintains effective communications at all levels; within the work setting and company
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Due to the nature of the Company, service delivery settings will vary. Must be able to adapt to a variety of settings and be willing to work in clinical, community, and home settings.
  • Work area may be crowded.
  • Working schedule may vary due to the nature of the business.
  • Duties may involve being on one's feet for extended periods.
  • Duties may involve traveling to and from areas within the western region of New Mexico.
  • Duties may involve exposure to hazardous conditions using power tools, contagious diseases, and chemicals to repair/adjust patient equipment.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
