Department: Resource Development

Work Location: Albany Clubhouse

Reports to: Director of Mission Advancement

Salary Range: $21-$24

Hours & Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week (with occasional weeknights & weekends)

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Overview of Your Role

The Development Associate plays a critical role in advancing the mission of BGCCA by supporting fundraising efforts, donor engagement, communications, and resource development operations. This position works closely with the Director of Mission Advancement, leadership team, board members, volunteers, program staff, and community partners to strengthen relationships and increase philanthropic support.

The Development Associate will help implement BGCCA’s annual fundraising strategy by supporting donor cultivation and stewardship activities, maintaining accurate donor records, coordinating fundraising communications, assisting with special events, and sharing the impact of BGCCA programs with supporters.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, relationship-focused professional who is passionate about youth development and community impact. This individual should enjoy building connections, telling compelling stories, managing details, and working collaboratively in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.


Key Job Responsibilities:

The following non-exhaustive list of job duties required for this position:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of BGCCA’s annual fundraising plan for individual, corporate, foundation, and community fundraising initiatives
  • Assist with donor cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment, and stewardship efforts
  • Maintain regular communication with donors and supporters to strengthen relationships and increase engagement
  • Support the preparation of donor proposals, sponsorship requests, grant materials, and fundraising reports
  • Research prospective donors, corporations, foundations, and community partners
  • Maintain accurate donor records, contact information, giving history, and relationship notes within the organization’s donor management system
  • Assist with donor acknowledgment processes, thank you communications, and stewardship activities
  • Generate reports and analyze fundraising data to measure progress toward goals and identify opportunities
  • Support the creation of compelling fundraising and communication materials, including:
  • Donor appeal letters
  • Newsletters
  • Impact reports
  • Sponsorship materials
  • Social media content
  • Donor updates
  • Collaborate with program and operations teams to understand BGCCA programs, outcomes, and areas of greatest need
  • Stay current on nonprofit fundraising trends, donor engagement practices, and ethical standards

CREDENTIALS, SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting fundraising, donor relations, nonprofit development, sales, marketing, community engagement, or a related field
  • Experience with donor management systems, CRM platforms, or fundraising software preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners
  • Knowledge of development principles, fundraising techniques, and ethics
  • Collaborative and flexible approach and a team-oriented management style
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of existing and new community contacts
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage details

Work environment:

  • This position is based at our administrative offices at the Albany Clubhouse (21 Delaware Ave). A hybrid in-person and remote work arrangement is available based on departmental priorities, and employee performance,


Travel required:

  • Minimal travel is required, with occasional program site visits, off-site professional development opportunities, community events, donor meetings, and networking activities

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Fine motor coordination required for computer-based work.
