Job description

The Planner II supports the Outfitting Production Control team in detailed planning, sequencing, and scheduling activities required to achieve zone, compartment, or system completion. The role ensures work orders are accurately attributed, properly sequenced, and supported by material availability and trade inputs. The Planner II drives coordination across production, engineering, and supply chain to enable efficient execution of outfitting scope, maintain schedule adherence, and support continuous improvement of planning processes.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, BC, V7P 2R1.

What you'll do

  • Develop and refine detailed production work packages, including accurate work order attribution, installation sequencing and scheduling for outfitting activities in accordance with the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and test path definitions
  • Build and maintain zone, compartment, and system-level activity sequences that reflect build strategy, production priorities, and predecessor discipline requirements.
  • Coordinate with Area Managers, Trade Supervisors, and engineering teams to validate sequence logic, confirm trade feasibility.
  • Review engineering drawings, system diagrams, test pack drawings, and 3D models to extract scope, set logical sequence, and align work orders
  • Maintain short/intermediate-range schedules and look-ahead plans that align onboard execution with project-level milestones and key events, and keep the dates updated in the MRP
  • Track physical and transactional progress for assigned scope and update planning tools and trackers to maintain accurate schedule and completion forecasts.
  • Monitors material availability and action material readiness onboard within the agreed time-fences.
  • Produce Plan of the Week (POW) and look-ahead schedules that support execution teams in managing daily and weekly work priorities.
  • Support the development and maintenance of critical micro-plans (e.g., machinery uptakes, powertrain sequences, system completion networks) to ensure alignment with broader production schedules.
  • Perform additional duties as required

 What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in production planning and control for outfitting work (mechanical, pipe, steel, electrical) in the shipbuilding industry is required.
  • Strong knowledge of shipbuilding production processes and the relationship between planning, engineering, procurement, and production is required.
  • Experience in using Oracle MRP & ERP is required.
  • Certified Advanced Supply Chain Professional (CASP) is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting an Oracle implementation is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience with inventory planning, supply chain processes, material flow, BOM structures, and manufacturing engineering principles.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and extract scope from engineering drawings and 3D models.
  • Strong MS Excel proficiency to gather and manipulate data, as needed
  • Working knowledge of planning systems such as Primavera or MS Project.
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail and ability to identify scope, sequencing, or material gaps proactively.
