Job description

Job Summary/Overview

This role is responsible for the daily management of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) as it relates to unplanned forecast demand, forecast shortages, production & inventory changes, allowing accurate and up-to-date information which drives the Material and Capacity Requirements and Customer Dating. ย 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the most competitive price and in

required amounts.

  • Establishes the MPS considering the forecast, the production plan, and other important considerations like backlog, capacity availability and management policies and goals.
  • Monitors MRP daily to ensure it continually meets customer service goals, inventory levels, shelf-life requirements, production efficiency and capacity objectives.
  • Takes the lead when the MRP must change due to failed batches, changes in customer demand, unscheduled downtime in production and/or whenever the schedule no longer meets objectives.
  • Interacts with internal customers to provide timely and accurate information on product availability, schedule changes, general inquiries, and all similar communication.
  • Ensures the MPS and MRP system is kept up to date.
  • Align MPS with Lean Manufacturing processes.
  • Minimize surplus and obsolete inventory.
  • Actively participates in cost improvement programs.
  • Plays a key role in new product startups pertaining to materials, training, interplant coordination cross functional team coordination, Engineering Change Order implementation, systems development as well as support Receiving, Shipping, and Inventory Control operations throughout the process.
  • Invoice reconciliation and ideas to reduce repetitive changes.
  • Maintains data integrity in SAP, confirming information is correct on PO's and material master
  • Works exception messages daily
  • Focus on metrics displayed on the Materials board and work daily to improve them (Past Due PO's, Exception Messages, Quality)
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of MRP/ERP systems. (SAP Preferred)
  • Ability to analyze situations and find root causes.
  • Experience in use of Lean manufacturing tools.
  • Excel, Word, and Power Point skills required.
  • Disciplined to work without supervision
  • Task and detailed oriented
  • Effective communicator with cross functional teams
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years' experience in Purchasing/Planning
  • H.S diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs. safely.
