Job Summary:
The Intern, Tax will assist our team members in servicing high net worth individuals with a focus on personal, fiduciary, S-Corporation, partnership, private foundation, and gift tax returns. The role provides hands-on learning through real client work, allowing interns to develop foundational knowledge of tax planning and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with the preparation of tax returns, income tax projects, estimated tax vouchers, extension forms, and supporting work papers under the guidance of experienced tax professionals.
• Organize and maintain client tax files and electronic records while assisting with administrative and task compliance support tasks, including gathering information for billing and other client service needs.
• Prepare supporting schedules, reconcile client information, and review tax documents for completeness and accuracy prior to preparation and filing.
• Participate in training sessions, associate meetings, and professional development opportunities to build technical tax knowledge and gain exposure to firm processes and best practices.
• Conduct basic test research and assist with gathering information related to inquiries from taxing authorities and changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Learn and follow the firm's quality control procedures, professional standards, and confidentiality requirements throughout all assignments.
• Collaborate with tax and wealth advisory teams to gain exposure to integrated tax and financial planning concepts and support client service initiatives.
• Assist with special projects and other assignments that support the tax team and enhance the overall client experience.
Required Education and Experience:
• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree with an expected graduation date within 24 months of the start of the internship.
• Demonstrated leadership experience through work or extracurricular activities.
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
Skills:
• Strong aptitude for working with numbers and performing detailed calculations accurately.
• Basic knowledge of accounting or tax principles.
• Eagerness to learn and ask questions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Able to work well within a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared goals in a professional environment.
• High level of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive client information.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to meet multiple deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain findings clearly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; willingness to learn specialized tax planning and preparation software.
