What is the opportunity?

Are you interested in the opportunity to work with Data and AI at RBC? By applying to this job posting, you will be considered for a co-op role as a Data Analyst/Engineer with The Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO). ECCO is a centralized first line of defense (1LOD) group with the goal of embedding a culture of risk ownership and operational excellence to elevate the control environment. Our Practice Management Governance and Reporting team serves to drive reporting consistency and excellence of non-financial risk at the Enterprise level.

What will you do?

Analyze, design, and deliver reporting solutions using RBC's analytics tools (Tableau, databases, Python, etc.)

Develop and enhance reporting dashboards that align with new business requirements

Perform data reconciliation and validation checks to ensure report accuracy and consistency across platforms

Support AI tool development initiatives through advanced analytics capabilities and prompt engineering

Apply data warehouse concepts and methodologies to support scalable and efficient data architectures

Be an active contributor to not only your individual team, but to the RBC development community

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning

Experience of relational databases and Data Management methodologies (ex. data modeling, automation, extract, transform, load)

Experience of Data Visualization tools (Tableau/Power BI) to create charts & graphs, advanced formulas

Programming skills for data analysis (ex. Python, SQL, VBA)

Ability to perform complex data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to stakeholders

Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)

Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment

Strong MS Office skills - Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

Nice-to-have

Experience in AI (Ex. Product Owner/Development/Prompt Engineering)

Proficient in building statistical and algorithmic models with complex and large datasets, including but not limited to: supervised statistical learning, clustering, natural language processing, recommendation systems, times-series analysis, experimental design (A/B testing), data visualization, deep learning

Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge

Please note:This posting is for a 4-months Winter 2027 Student placement with a start date of January 2027, and end date of April 2027. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of April 2027 ; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in April 2027), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
