Senior Salesforce Developer (Software Development Specialist 3)

The Ohio Department of Job & Family Services (ODJFS) is seeking a Senior Salesforce Software Developer to support a variety of Business Process Management applications. In this role, you will apply your Salesforce and Microservices development expertise as part of a robust and friendly team of Salesforce developers. You will support the entire software-development lifecycle, work extensively with many new tools and technologies, and have ongoing opportunities to update your skills as new technologies emerge. Success in this position requires strong analytical and communication skills, along with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You should have a desire to satisfy requirements that create an exceptional customer experience and bring a persistent, thorough, detail-oriented, and well-organized approach to your work. You will need to independently manage multiple assignments, maintain daily status reports and timekeeping, and demonstrate efficient time management and multi-tasking skills.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in architectural design and development of scalable Salesforce applications, LWCs, Apex services, OmniStudio components, and complex API integrations.
  • Define requirements for large-scale solutions, perform impact analyses, and conduct code reviews to ensure alignment with development and security standards.
  • Contribute to modernization efforts, including migration of legacy applications to Salesforce and redesign of outdated integration patterns.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior developers, distribute institutional knowledge, and strengthen technical continuity across teams.
  • Develop test plans, coordinate unit/system/integration testing, track defects, and support UAT.
  • Manage CI/CD activities using Git, Copado/Flosum, and automated testing tools; ensure compliance with DevOps and release-management processes.
  • Design and support integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, MuleSoft, event-driven patterns, file-based interfaces, and cloud-native microservices.
  • Ensure interoperability with Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, FileNet, LDAP/SSO, and enterprise Java applications.
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot using Splunk, Dynatrace, and related observability tools.
  • Participate in architectural governance and ensure alignment with security, data governance, and long-term sustainability standards.

Schedule: Full-time. Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Location: This position will be headquartered in an ODJFS Facility in one of the following cities - Columbus, Akron, or Dayton. This determination will take into account the proximity to the applicant's home address.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

  • OPTION 1: 60 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met; AND 12 months work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting (Salesforce).
  • OPTION 2: Completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 42 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met; AND 12 months work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting (Salesforce).
  • OPTION 3: Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 36 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met; AND 12 months work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting (Salesforce).
  • OPTION 4: Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio's OCSEA Pay Schedule, Pay Range 35. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $40.59 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
