THIS IS A REMOTE 3 MONTH CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY
· The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for architecting, deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving secure cloud infrastructure and software systems hosted in a cloud environment.
· The role requires a hands-on approach to cloud architecture, Infrastructure as Code, reliability engineering, monitoring and alerting, security operations, and continuous improvement.
· The individual will work independently and as part of a team in an Agile development process, assist in the implementation of new features, solutions, and secure components as new releases or products are introduced, and oversee the design and operation of scalable, compliant, and resilient environments.
Responsibilities:
· Architect, deploy, automate, monitor, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure and software systems, ensuring services operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with security requirements.
· Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, optimize performance and scalability, and escalate problems that cannot be resolved through standard operational procedures.
· Design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform to provision, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure across both production and non-production environments.
· Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and architect secure, scalable cloud environments that support current and future product needs.
· Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and automated response capabilities to improve availability, detect anomalies early, and support rapid incident response.
· Prevent, detect, and remediate configuration drift in secure environments through automation, validation, and continuous compliance practices.
· Ensure all application deployments and cloud environments are implemented, maintained, and operated in compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and other applicable compliance frameworks as specified.
· Apply technical expertise to solve complex infrastructure, integration, security, and deployment problems across cloud-hosted systems.
· Participate in the full life cycle of software delivery, including requirement development, environment design, build and release automation, deployment, operations, maintenance, and support for new feature and product introductions.
· Work with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership to implement, monitor, secure, and continuously improve cloud-native solutions.
Essential Functions:
· Proactively manage secure cloud environments for reliability, performance, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
· Lead or provide leadership to drive the resolution and escalation of complex operational, infrastructure, and security problems.
· Ensure cloud, DevOps, and security best practices are followed throughout the software delivery process and SaaS operating model.
· Gather and report infrastructure, reliability, and security metrics to support decision-making, continuous improvement, and operational transparency.
· Interact with program management, external suppliers, customers, and support partners to coordinate delivery and issue resolution.
· Maintain strong communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 8 years of DevOps, cloud engineering, software development, or systems engineering experience, or a minimum of 10 years' experience in the same
· Experience architecting and securing cloud environments, including cybersecurity hardening and operating in regulated environments such as healthcare.
· Demonstrated experience in Python, Java, or other OOP languages.
· Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with strong proficiency in Terraform preferred.
· Demonstrated experience working with relational databases, PostgreSQL preferred
· Experience with Git version control and formal software testing.
· Working knowledge of containers (Docker, Kubernetes), networking technologies, cloud hosting, and platform services, with Azure preferred.
· Familiarity with configuration management tools and processes.
· Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, scaling, incident response, and drift detection or remediation practices in cloud-hosted environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
· 10 or more years of DevOps, cloud engineering, software development, or systems engineering experience.
· Experience with monitoring, alerting, automated recovery, and observability practices common to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
· Experience with Azure Functions, Data Factory, Front Door, Private Endpoints, APIM, and Microsoft Entra ID.
· Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and Agile development processes.
· Working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
· This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise in cloud operations and software delivery, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
