This role serves as the senior technical authority for product reliability, translating field, warranty, manufacturing, supplier, and test data into enterprise priorities and measurable product improvements. The position drives cross-functional corrective action, influences product and technology roadmaps, develops technical capability across the organization, and provides leadership with clear assessments of reliability performance, risk, and investment needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product reliability strategy, multi-year roadmap, governance model, and annual priorities, aligning reliability investments with business, customer, and product objectives.
  • Serve as SENS's senior technical authority for product reliability and advise leadership on field performance, emerging risks, corrective action status, and resource priorities.
  • Define and maintain reliability requirements, targets, and acceptance criteria for new and sustaining products, influencing architecture, design reviews, qualification plans, release readiness, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Establish and govern reliability metrics, including field failure rates, warranty performance, MTTF, MTBF, reliability growth, and corrective action effectiveness.
  • Lead systems and processes for collecting, validating, analyzing, and reporting field, warranty, manufacturing, supplier, and test data; translate trends into strategic priorities and executive-level dashboards.
  • Lead cross-functional failure review and corrective action processes, driving timely containment, root-cause determination, corrective and preventive actions, effectiveness verification, and organizational learning.
  • Prioritize and lead reliability improvement programs across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Customer Support, and external partners; develop risk assessments, business cases, implementation plans, and resource recommendations.
  • Direct complex electrical, firmware, battery system, and electromechanical failure investigations at the component, assembly, and system levels using laboratory instrumentation and diagnostic equipment.
  • Establish and guide reliability test strategies, including accelerated life testing and reliability growth testing, and use results to validate design decisions and corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain the reliability knowledge base, standard methods, design guidelines, and lessons learned for reuse across product families.
  • Mentor engineers and technical personnel, lead technical reviews, and build organizational reliability capability through training, coaching, and clear decision-making frameworks.
  • Represent reliability in product portfolio, technology, and operational planning, and recommend staffing, laboratory, tooling, and capital investments needed to achieve reliability objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering or similar technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in product reliability, quality, design, test, or failure analysis within industrial electronics or battery systems company.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional reliability, field failure analysis, and corrective action programs with measurable results.
  • Effective technical leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
