Job Description

Turner & Townsend are seeking an Electrical Construction Manager with significant experience in the field overseeing contractors; committed to safety first, knowledge of design, construction, and operations; an understanding of owner representation and requirements; and detailed knowledge of scheduling, cost control, and project control techniques.   

The successful applicant will have a proven track record as an Electrical Superintendent / Construction Manager managing a Petrochemical, refinery, or other plant construction, as well as additions and interior renovations.

The typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following: 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage the day-to-day project activities within the Electrical scope and resources to ensure projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.  
  • Understanding of electrical project management principles, methods and techniques. 
  • Work collaboratively with site Safety leadership to support the application of principles and critical behaviors to develop a proactive Safety culture; 
  • Maintain openness, transparency and a continuing dialogue with colleagues and other stakeholders related to Safety systems, performance, and lessons learned. 
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with the client, based on a commitment to industry leading customer service that results in complete customer satisfaction and future project opportunities. 
  • Conduct site visits to monitor the progress of construction, review status of work completed during the period covered, review that work is generally proceeding in a good and workmanlike manner and in general accordance with the approved drawings and specifications. 
  • Review of change orders and monthly reports 
  • Review Engineering and Contractor proposals for completeness, revise as necessary, and negotiate best possible contract. 
  • Review contract drawings and specifications for completeness and general compliance with commonly accepted engineering best practices. 
  • Conduct meetings with appropriate parties and prepare minutes. 
  • Review and make relevant comments concerning the terms of the construction agreement, the submitted subcontracts, architectural and engineering design agreements, as well as review both Contractor and Engineering qualification statements.  
  • Partner with the Client, Engineering, and Contractor, and assist with job specific procedures and adjust progress as necessary to insure timely completion of project. 
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations to various audiences, including project team and key stakeholders. 
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of documents (schedules, invoices, RFI’s, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, inspections, closeout, client presentations) for design and construction and maintain information in project management software. 
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence. 
  • Responsible for ensuring all aspects of client services are delivered at the highest level to ensure the client’s needs are addressed. 
  • Sox control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in construction in related industry 
  • Bachelors’ Degree or related electrical experience. 
  • Excellent written, verbal and analytic skills. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Understanding of contract documents, specifications, project plans, and all other project related documents. 
  • Highly motivated self-starter. 
  • Ability to multi-task and identify priority activities. 
  • Computer skills, including MS Office, MS Project, Bluebeam/Adobe, OneNote, construction project management software. 
  • Basic knowledge of construction estimation. 
  • Basic knowledge of the financial components that create payment applications, change orders, and other construction financial documents. 
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and identify priority activities. 
  • Self-directed and able to function with ease as part of a team and to effectively collaborate with internal and external resources.
