DevOps Engineer - AWS Cloud Support
Location: Tampa, Dallas, or Jersey City (Hybrid)
Role Overview
We are seeking a senior DevOps Engineer with a strong background in software engineering and extensive experience in AWS cloud infrastructure. This role is focused on production operations, supporting a complex, multi-account, and multi-region AWS environment. The ideal candidate will leverage deep technical expertise in Terraform and AWS services to enhance operational stability, automate processes, and provide critical support during production incidents.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support the production AWS environment, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, including both Open Source and Enterprise versions.
  • Run CI/CD pipelines, manage production deployments, and handle Terraform/code backporting.
  • Lead troubleshooting and incident response for production issues, distinguishing between application and infrastructure problems.
  • Build, configure, and troubleshoot end-to-end observability solutions using tools like CloudWatch and Grafana.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and serve as a key technical resource during incident management calls.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate new services and automate operational tasks.
  • Provide technical guidance to elevate the capabilities of the broader team.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in AWS services, particularly in a multi-account, multi-region context. This includes services such as EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, and CloudWatch.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code, including an understanding of state management, resource deployment, and the differences between Terraform Open Source and Terraform Enterprise.
  • Proficiency with scripting and configuration languages such as Python, YAML, and JSON.
  • Experience building and maintaining observability and monitoring pipelines, including familiarity with CloudWatch, Grafana, and event-driven alerting.

Experience:
  • Proven background as a software engineer who has transitioned into a cloud operations, DevOps, or infrastructure role.
  • Demonstrated experience in a production operations or support capacity, with responsibility for managing live environments.
  • Experience with production incident management, including troubleshooting complex issues and communicating effectively during high-pressure situations.
  • Understanding of infrastructure automation principles and their practical application in large-scale environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Terraform Enterprise is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow integration for incident management.
  • Experience working within large, distributed environments with hundreds of AWS accounts.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to act as a visible technical lead during incident calls.
