Overview

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer provides hands-on engineering for secure, scalable cloud infrastructure supporting DoW mission systems. The position focuses on infrastructure services, automation, networking, compute, storage, identity, monitoring, and operational performance.

Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, configure, and sustain cloud infrastructure for mission applications and enterprise services.
  • Engineer virtual networks, subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalls, private connectivity, DNS, and network security controls.
  • Provision and manage cloud compute, storage, databases, backup, recovery, and associated infrastructure services.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code and automated provisioning using Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, Ansible, or comparable technologies.
  • Configure cloud identity, role-based access control, service identities, secrets, certificates, and privileged-access mechanisms.
  • Build monitoring, logging, alerting, performance management, and capacity-management capabilities.
  • Automate routine administration, patching, configuration enforcement, compliance checks, and infrastructure lifecycle activities.
  • Support migration of legacy workloads from on-premises infrastructure to cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures.
  • Diagnose infrastructure, network, performance, availability, and security issues and drive problems to resolution.
  • Participate in change management, incident response, disaster recovery exercises, technical reviews, and operational readiness assessments.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant technical field (or equivalent experience) and 6+ years of infrastructure engineering experience, with significant hands-on cloud experience.
  • Strong experience with Azure or AWS infrastructure services; experience with both is highly desirable.
  • Experience with networking concepts including TCP/IP, routing, VPN/private connectivity, DNS, load balancing, and network security.
  • Experience administering Linux and/or Windows systems in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, scripting, automation, Git, and CI/CD practices.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security, IAM, encryption, monitoring, vulnerability management, and backup/recovery.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Must hold a CompTIA Security+ CE or other approved 8140 IAT Level II certification.
  • Must hold at least one relevant cloud certification in either Azure or AWS.
  • Must reside within a75-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville ALor be willing to relocate prior to starting date.
  • Active Secret security clearance must be able to maintain the security clearance required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in DoW/DoD mission environments.
  • Experience with Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, IL5/IL6, or comparable regulated environments.
  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect/Engineer or Microsoft Azure Administrator/Engineer.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containers, service mesh, or platform engineering.
  • Preferred experience with SPECTRO Cloud, including deployment, configuration, administration, and integration of SPECTRO Cloud capabilities within hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Preferred experience architecting, deploying, and integrating SPECTRO Cloud as part of secure hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including platform orchestration, workload management, automation, and integration with government mission systems.

  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
