Role Summary
The Senior Service Engineer operates as a key technical leader responsible for driving service parts engineering and aftermarket readiness across multiple product lines. This role owns critical deliverables related to service BOMs, part lifecycle management, and engineering data integrity, ensuring alignment between product design and field support.
Working with a high degree of independence, the position leads cross-functional initiatives with product engineering, supply chain, sourcing, and customer support teams to deliver accurate, timely, and scalable service solutions. The role serves as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex technical issues, while driving continuous improvement in processes, tools, and data to support business performance and customer satisfaction.
Core Responsibilities
Service Parts Engineering & Data Management
  • Lead the development, validation, and maintenance of service bills of materials (BOMs) and catalog data across product lines.
  • Ensure alignment between product configurations and service parts throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Drive improvements in data accuracy and system integrity across engineering tools (e.g., service catalog and parts databases).

Product Development & Program Support
  • Represent Service Engineering in cross-functional product development programs, design reviews, and software releases.
  • Ensure aftermarket requirements, including service parts and accessories, are incorporated early in product development.
  • Support product launch readiness by ensuring timely availability of service parts.

Technical Support & Issue Resolution
  • Provide leadership in resolving complex technical issues related to part identification, applicability, and configuration.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring product or service part issues.
  • Serve as an escalation point for cross-functional teams supporting customer and field service needs.

Part Lifecycle Management
  • Oversee new part setups, supersessions, alternates, and end-of-life (EOL) strategies.
  • Ensure proper coordination of part changes and transitions across engineering, supply chain, and sourcing organizations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with product engineering, supply chain, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to validate part designs and ensure serviceability.
  • Support supplier selection, validation, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Act as a central point of coordination for service-related engineering activities across global teams.

Project & Resource Management
  • Manage engineering project tasks, priorities, and deliverables across multiple initiatives.
  • Contribute to resource planning and allocation to support program timelines and deliverables.
  • Monitor progress and ensure alignment with project milestones, cost targets, and business objectives.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service engineering processes, tools, and data quality.
  • Standardize workflows and establish best practices for service engineering operations.
  • Support development and implementation of systems and reporting tools for engineering performance tracking.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering team members to achieve organizational goals.
  • Establish performance expectations and promote a culture of accountability and professionalism.
  • Align team objectives with broader organizational strategies and growth initiatives.

Level of Responsibility
  • Operates as a senior individual contributor with significant ownership of service engineering deliverables across multiple product lines
  • Leads complex, cross-functional initiatives with engineering, supply chain, sourcing, and product teams to ensure aftermarket readiness
  • Acts as a technical subject matter expert for service BOMs, part lifecycle management, and engineering data systems
  • Works independently with minimal direction, prioritizing work and balancing multiple projects to meet business objectives
  • Serves as an escalation point for complex technical and service part issues impacting customers and field operations
  • Influences decisions and drives alignment across stakeholders without direct authority
  • Mentors junior engineers and contributes to broader team development and capability building

Basic Qualifications
  • Associate degree (AA/AS) with 5+ years of experience in HVAC, or engineering field OR
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or higher with 3+ years of experience in HVAC, or engineering

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering, service engineering, or product lifecycle management
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional product development environments
  • Experience using SQL, Python, or similar tools to analyze engineering or service data and support decision-making
  • Strong understanding of service BOMs, part lifecycle processes, and engineering data systems
  • Working knowledge of parts catalogs, PDM/PLM, or similar tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive root cause resolution
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage stakeholders to deliver results
  • Track record of executing projects on time with measurable impact (e.g., improved BOM accuracy, part availability, reduced errors/escalations

Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
Other Compensation
This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
