Electrical Engineer / Project Engineer

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has an opening for an Electrical Engineer / Project Engineer located in Macon, GA. This role is responsible for providing engineering and technical support to manufacturing operations, supporting maintenance systems and production processes, driving process improvement and cost reduction initiatives, and managing the selection, design, and installation of capital projects. The position works closely with plant engineering teams and plays a key role in Lean manufacturing efforts, root cause analysis, reliability improvement, and continuous operational improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Provide engineering and technical assistance to manufacturing operations, maintenance systems, and production processes
  • Support plant reliability and performance improvement initiatives
  • Investigate manufacturing and equipment issues and implement corrective actions
  • Consult with production personnel to analyze operational data and improve process effectiveness
  • Educate plant personnel on engineering and technical concepts to improve operational understanding
  • Coordinate training and startup activities for new equipment and processes
  • Apply Precision Maintenance principles and best practices

Capital Projects & Project Management

  • Manage plant capital budgets and support capital planning activities
  • Develop preliminary concepts and budgetary estimates for new projects and process improvements
  • Support vendor bid development, vendor selection, and purchased services coordination
  • Execute capital projects while ensuring cost, schedule, and performance objectives are achieved
  • Provide project updates and communicate project status/issues to stakeholders

Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing

  • Identify and execute process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen activities focused on waste reduction and operational efficiency
  • Support root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives
  • Integrate continuous improvement methodologies into manufacturing operations
  • Support standards development and reliability improvement efforts

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, and production teams
