We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Operations Engineer supporting one of our premier programs within Raytheon, an RTX Business, in the Space Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (SISR) business unit. As part of the Systems Integration and Test (SI&T) organization, you will play a key role in supporting mission-critical satellite ground system operations. Your experience with operations, troubleshooting, systems integration, and collaboration with government customers and multiple contractor teams will be critical to ensuring system availability and mission success. The work is on-site in Las Cruces, NM.
What You Will Do
  • Manage baseline software and system installations into operational environments.
  • Monitor, track, and report system availability, health, and performance metrics.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, investigate anomalies, and support system recovery efforts to maintain mission readiness.
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and ad hoc availability and performance reports for program leadership and customers.
  • Represent the program during technical interchange meetings, operational reviews, and customer briefings.
  • Support the resolution of systems engineering, integration, and operational issues across multiple teams.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional engineering organizations to plan, schedule, and execute operational activities.
  • Monitor, track, and manage operational workloads while ensuring mission priorities are met.
  • Provide backup support to technical leadership during customer meetings and operational briefings.
  • Support 24/7 operational activities, including occasional off-hours call-in support as required.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting systems engineering, operations, or maintenance activities for complex software or hardware systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex systems, performing root cause analysis, and supporting operational recovery efforts.
  • Experience working independently while making sound technical decisions in an operational environment.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to the start date.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience working in CI/CD and DevSecOps environments.
  • Experience supporting satellite ground system development, integration, or operations.
  • Experience supporting mission management ground systems, space-based ISR platforms, or related aerospace and defense programs.
  • Experience administering or supporting Linux, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Experience programming or scripting with Java, C++, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based infrastructure and modern computing environments.
  • Experience working with Oracle or other enterprise database technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with government customers and multi-contractor engineering teams.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
