Job description

Senior Quality Engineer – Role Overview

Donaldson is a technology and innovation leader focused on solving complex filtration challenges. As a key member of our Aerospace & Defense and Industrial manufacturing teams, you will support our AS9100‑certified and ISO9001‑certified quality management systems across multiple manufacturing facilities.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain, improve, and standardize AS9100 and ISO9001 Quality Management Systems across multiple sites.

  • Lead internal audits, support external audits, and ensure ongoing compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry standards.

  • Develop, revise, and standardize quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation throughout the organization.

  • Act as the technical quality contact for key customers; support customer communication related to quality issues, corrective actions, product performance, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

  • Facilitate customer audits, visits, and quality reviews to maintain transparency and alignment with expectations.

  • Partner with operations, engineering, and supply‑chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve process capability.

  • Lead root‑cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (RCCA/CAPA) activities using 8D, 5‑Why, FMEA, and related tools.

  • Support new product introductions, process validations, and first‑article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102.

  • Identify systemic issues and lead cross‑functional improvement projects that enhance quality, efficiency, and cost performance.

  • Promote a culture of operational excellence with Lean, Six Sigma, and data‑driven problem‑solving methodologies.

  • Track and analyze quality metrics to drive proactive improvements and reduce defects, scrap, and rework.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of professional quality engineering experience.

  • Experience in Aerospace & Defense, industrial manufacturing, or other highly regulated environments.

  • Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001, and related quality standards.

  • Prior quality engineering or manufacturing engineering experience.

  • Process‑improvement and problem‑solving experience.

  • Experience operating within an ISO and/or AS9100‑compliant aerospace quality environment.

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and principles such as process capability, Gage RR, Design of Experiments, and DMAIC.

  • Experience facilitating 8D analysis and implementing corrective actions internally and externally.

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical field.

  • Preferred: ISO or AS9100 certifications.

  • Preferred: Experience with original equipment manufacturing (aerospace, off‑highway, or automotive).


Location & Travel

Hybrid schedule at our Bloomington, MN headquarters. Travel up to 10%.


Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $86,200 – $111,000. Actual salaries may vary by experience, training, education, and performance. Employee benefits include health benefits, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid time away, paid leaves (including paid parental leave), and more.
