Job description

The Company
MaverickX is revitalizing critical resource extraction with precision biologics. We are a team of scientists, engineers and business operators who are bringing cutting-edge biotechnology products to the world's most critical industries.

The Team
Operations at MaverickX sits at the intersection of chaos and control. Our team orchestrates everything from lab-to-market execution to supply chain optimization, working directly with Engineering, Finance, and the C-Suite to transform ambitious targets into operational reality.

The Role
We're hunting for an Operations Associate who thrives where strategy meets execution. You'll have a front-row seat to scaling operations significantly, while working directly with our executive team as we commercialize breakthrough technologies in energy and critical metals. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured yet fast-moving environment, enjoys managing projects from behind the scenes, and brings professionalism, adaptability, and teamwork to every interaction.

Responsibilities
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the nerve center between Chief of Staff and department leads, ensuring seamless information flow and strategic alignment across all teams
  • Project Management: Maintain razor-sharp visibility on timelines, deliverables, and dependencies while ensuring milestones hit their marks
  • Process Optimization: Implement tools and systems that deliver efficient solutions and slash waste from workflows
  • Executive Support: Provide mission-critical support to the Chief of Staff and leadership team through strategic meeting coordination, agenda development, and flawless execution of top priorities
  • Information Management: Handle sensitive communications and confidential data with the discretion of a vault and the accessibility of a dashboard
  • Performance Reporting: Maintain executive-grade progress reports, KPI summaries, and data visualizations that turn complexity into clarity
  • Documentation Systems: Maintain the organizational knowledge base, ensuring project documentation and internal dashboards remain pristine and actionable
  • Special Initiatives: Jump into high-stakes company initiatives as MaverickX scales, staying agile enough to pivot between operations and strategy at a moment's notice
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, or quantitative field
  • 2-4 years experience in operations, consulting, high-growth startup, or similar fast-paced environment
  • Deep fluency with project management tools (Smartsheet) and modern business systems
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Obsessive attention to detail paired with ability to juggle multiple complex projects
  • Thrives in chaos; shifting priorities energize rather than frustrate you
  • Native-level proficiency across Google Workspace, Slack, and AI-powered productivity tools
  • Extreme ownership mentality; you see problems and fix them before being asked
  • Ready to do whatever it takes with high motivation-from analyzing data to moving boxes-with equal enthusiasm
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP or CAPM certification with proven ability to apply frameworks in startup environments, not just follow them
  • Experience in chemical, biotech, energy, or industrial sectors-bonus points for regulatory or compliance exposure
  • Advanced Excel skills; you can build models and pull insights that make data analysts jealous
  • Experience supporting C-suite executives in high-stakes, fast-growth environments
  • Previous startup-to-scale experience, especially in deep tech or industrial sectors
Additional Requirements
  • Willing to work extended hours, as needed
  • Willing to travel to customer sites, other Maverick facilities, and industry events
Our Values
  • Customer First: Our first and foremost priority is to give customers technology that makes their business more valuable. There is no deviation from this north star
  • Play to Win: This is a professional team, not a family. Hardcore work ethic is a baseline; Measurable impact is how we define success
  • Extreme Ownership: We are self-starters who learn voraciously, master their domain, and take full accountability for the outcomes of their work
  • Relentless Execution: A good idea is meaningless until it is solving a customer problem. Moving with speed, focus, and determination is how we win in our industry
  • Radical Candor: Focused, direct, and impactful communication is our language. No time for beating around the bush
  • Shared Success: Meaningful equity participation for employees means that when Maverick wins, everyone wins
  • Uncompromised Integrity: We do first class business in a first class way, while staying loyal to our customers, shareholders, employees, and country
Benefits
  • At Maverick X, our compensation packages reflect our recognition of the value our employees bring to our success and our commitment to recruiting top talent. We cater our benefits to ensure our team succeeds both in and out of the office
  • Premium health insurance: With medical, dental, and optical options, we offer some of the best coverage on the market
  • Continuing education: We take employee development seriously and strive to unlock our team's full potential through continuous learning initiatives
