Purpose
The Senior Network Engineer leads the design, implementation, and architecture of enterprise network infrastructure to support PANTHERx's growth as a leading rare disease pharmacy. This role owns the technical vision for PANTHERx's strategic infrastructure initiatives, including multi-site data center operations, Azure cloud networking strategy, and hybrid connectivity. The Senior Network Engineer provides technical mentorship to the network team and serves as the escalation point for complex network and connectivity issues.
Responsibilities
- Leads the design and architecture of enterprise network infrastructure for large-scale environments, including on-premises data centers, Azure cloud connectivity, and hybrid networking solutions.
- Defines and owns the strategy for Azure networking solutions, including ExpressRoute circuits, virtual networks, VPN gateways, NSGs, Azure Firewall, and hybrid connectivity architectures. Oversees implementation by the network team.
- Serves as the technical lead and architect for strategic network infrastructure projects across geographically distributed colocation facilities. Makes final design decisions and provides technical direction to the network team.
- Configures and maintains network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc.).
- Monitors network performance and troubleshoots issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Implements network security best practices, including firewall policies, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access controls.
- Documents network architecture, design decisions, and standard operating procedures. Maintains project plans and drives timely execution of strategic network initiatives.
- Leads network upgrades, migrations, and integration of new technologies.
- Provides technical mentorship and guidance to mid-level network engineers and collaborates with cross-functional teams (infrastructure, security, DevOps, applications).
- Maintains thorough documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and processes.
- Troubleshoots and resolves complex network issues, serving as final escalation point for critical incidents affecting business operations.
- Designs and implements network automation solutions using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Python to improve operational efficiency.
- Evaluates and recommends network technology solutions, vendor products, and architecture patterns to align with business objectives and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in related field.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing enterprise network infrastructure.
- Proven experience leading large-scale network projects, including multi-site implementations and cloud networking initiatives.
- Deep expertise in Azure networking, including ExpressRoute, VNets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, hybrid connectivity, and Azure network design patterns.
- Experience troubleshooting advanced LAN/WAN/SAN issues and ability to work on problem diagnosis. Experience implementing medium scale network projects (ex. multiple switches and routers), creating and following project plans, and using advanced network management tools such as CiscoWorks and Openview.
- Expert-level knowledge of the OSI layer model and extensive hands-on experience with advanced routing technologies (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and switching technologies (VLAN trunking, STP, VPC).
- Advanced experience configuring and deploying Aruba and Fortinet network equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex LAN/WAN/SAN issues and lead incident response for critical outages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Azure certifications (AZ-700 Azure Network Engineer Associate, AZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent).
- Cisco CCNP or equivalent networking certification.
- Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Python).
- Experience with SD-WAN solutions and multi-site WAN optimization.
- Experience in DevOps practices (Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, automation) or secondary infrastructure expertise (Windows Server, storage, virtualization).
- Experience working in healthcare or other highly regulated industries.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines.
