Looking to gain real-world engineering experience while you're still in school? Join SPI's Summer Internship Program and work alongside experienced engineers on projects that help shape communities across Texas.
As a Civil Engineering Intern, you'll contribute to active projects while developing technical, professional, and communication skills that will prepare you for a successful engineering career.
What You'll Do
  • Assist engineers with design calculations and technical tasks.
  • Support preparation of engineering drawings, exhibits, and reports.
  • Perform drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
  • Participate in field visits to observe construction, surveying, and site conditions.
  • Assist with data collection and engineering documentation.
  • Learn engineering standards, design practices, and project workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, surveyors, and project managers.
Internship Bingo
Participate in SPI's Internship Bingo program, designed to expose interns to multiple aspects of civil engineering through project meetings, field observations, surveying, CAD production, project management, mentorship, and cross-functional learning opportunities.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering degree program.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Interest in civil engineering design, construction, or infrastructure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and follow direction.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus, but not required.
Additional Information
  • Paid summer internship.
  • Approximately 15 hours per week minimum (or as otherwise arranged).
  • Primarily office-based with opportunities for field experience and occasional travel to project sites.
