Job Overview: Rex Moore is looking for a Business Applications Product Manager to help manage, improve, and expand the applications that support our construction operations, project delivery, business processes, and internal teams.

This role sits within OOIA and works closely with business leaders, field teams, project teams, IT, vendors, and implementation partners to ensure our software tools are practical, connected, adopted, and delivering measurable value.

This position supports Rex Moore’s business application portfolio, including construction applications, field and project tools, CRM, ERP-related systems, custom-built business applications, reporting tools, workflow platforms, and other business-critical software. The role will help evaluate new applications when business needs arise, improve existing tools, manage enhancement requests, coordinate vendors, support adoption, and ensure applications align with how work actually gets done.

The ideal candidate is part product manager, part project manager, and part business systems partner. They should be comfortable working with users, gathering requirements, prioritizing features, managing vendors, coordinating application projects, supporting rollouts, and helping the company get more value from its technology stack.

This is not a software engineering role and it is not limited to one system. It is an application ownership and business enablement role focused on making sure Rex Moore has the right tools, uses them well, and continues improving them as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks:

Business Application Portfolio Management

  • Help manage Rex Moore’s portfolio of business applications, including construction applications, field tools, project systems, CRM, ERP-related platforms, custom-built business applications, workflow tools, and other business software.
  • Maintain visibility into what applications are in use, who owns them, what business purpose they serve, and where improvements are needed.
  • Partner with departments to understand application pain points, process gaps, duplicate tools, manual workarounds, and unmet business needs.
  • Recommend when existing applications should be improved, integrated, automated, expanded, replaced, consolidated, or retired.
  • Help establish and maintain application standards, documentation, ownership models, and governance practices.
  • Support leadership with clear summaries of application health, risks, value, usage, and improvement opportunities.

Construction, Field & Project Applications

  • Support the evaluation, rollout, and improvement of applications used by field teams, project teams, operations, estimating, service, and other construction-related functions.
  • Partner with users to understand real-world workflows, jobsite needs, project execution challenges, and operational friction points.
  • Identify opportunities to improve visibility, reduce manual effort, streamline communication, and support better project outcomes.
  • Gather feedback from field and project users and translate it into clear requirements, prioritized improvements, and practical next steps.
  • Ensure construction and field applications are configured and supported in ways that are usable for the people doing the work.
  • Coordinate with vendors, IT, training resources, and business leaders to support successful application adoption.

Application Roadmap & Feature Prioritization

  • Manage application roadmaps, enhancement backlogs, and feature priorities for assigned applications.
  • Gather, document, and evaluate feature requests from business users and department leaders.
  • Prioritize application improvements based on business value, urgency, user impact, cost, effort, risk, and strategic alignment.
  • Make practical recommendations and decisions about what should be improved, built, purchased, configured, or deferred.
  • Translate business needs into requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process notes, and implementation priorities.
  • Communicate roadmap decisions, tradeoffs, dependencies, and status updates to stakeholders.

New Application Evaluation & Selection

  • Help identify when new applications may be needed to support business growth, construction operations, process improvement, or modernization efforts.
  • Participate in software evaluations, demos, vendor comparisons, pilot programs, and selection discussions.
  • Help define business requirements, success criteria, integration needs, data considerations, and adoption risks before selecting new tools.
  • Partner with stakeholders to compare whether needs should be met through existing systems, new software, custom development, automation, or process changes.
  • Support build-vs-buy conversations and provide recommendations based on value, fit, maintainability, and long-term support needs.

Custom-Built Business Applications

  • Work with vendors and development partners to define requirements, coordinate delivery, test releases, and improve custom-built applications or software solutions created for Rex Moore business needs.
  • Manage enhancement requests and improvement backlogs for custom-built business applications and vendor-developed software solutions.
  • Work with users to clarify pain points, desired outcomes, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate with vendors, implementation partners, and technical resources to scope, test, and deliver custom-built application and software improvements.
  • Support user acceptance testing, release planning, documentation, training, and post-release feedback.
  • Help ensure custom-built applications and software solutions remain useful, supportable, documented, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Evaluate whether custom-built applications should be improved, integrated, expanded, replaced, or retired.

CRM, ERP & Core Business Systems Support

  • Support application needs related to CRM, ERP, and other core business systems as part of the broader application portfolio.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand workflow, data, reporting, integration, and process needs connected to core systems.
  • Help coordinate requirements, issue tracking, testing support, enhancement requests, vendor follow-up, and user adoption activities.
  • Ensure core business systems are connected to real operational workflows and not treated as isolated platforms.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting, process consistency, and user experience across core systems.

Vendor & Partner Management

  • Work directly with software vendors, consultants, implementation partners, and support providers.
  • Hold vendors accountable for commitments, timelines, support quality, issue resolution, documentation, and agreed-upon outcomes.
  • Translate Rex Moore’s business needs into vendor-facing requirements and action items.
  • Track vendor follow-ups, open issues, risks, dependencies, enhancement requests, and roadmap commitments.
  • Participate in vendor demos, solution reviews, product roadmap discussions, renewal conversations, and support escalations.
  • Help ensure Rex Moore receives measurable value from its software vendors and application investments.

Project Management & Delivery Coordination

  • Manage smaller application projects and improvement initiatives from intake through rollout.
  • Build project plans, action lists, timelines, decision logs, status updates, and stakeholder communications.
  • Coordinate work across business users, IT, vendors, technical resources, and leadership.
  • Track risks, blockers, dependencies, open decisions, and next steps.
  • Escalate issues appropriately while keeping work moving toward practical business outcomes.
  • Ensure completed application work is documented, communicated, adopted, and measured.

Adoption, Training & Change Support

  • Support user adoption for new applications, system changes, feature releases, and workflow improvements.
  • Help develop rollout plans, quick-reference guides, training materials, communication updates, and support documentation.
  • Gather feedback from users and identify barriers to adoption.
  • Partner with department leaders and training resources to reinforce new processes and improve application usage.
  • Ensure application changes are embedded into real business workflows rather than treated as one-time technology deployments.
  • Monitor adoption signals and recommend adjustments where users need more support.

Metrics, Reporting & Business Value

  • Help define success measures for application initiatives before work begins.
  • Track adoption, usage, process impact, issue trends, user feedback, vendor performance, and business value.
  • Prepare clear summaries, dashboards, and status updates for leadership.
  • Identify applications or initiatives that may need additional training, process adjustment, vendor escalation, expansion, consolidation, or discontinuation.
  • Support ROI evaluation by connecting application improvements to measurable operational outcomes.
