What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Stack Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Stack Developer, you need strong proficiency in both front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end (such as Node.js, Python, or Java) technologies, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, cloud platforms, and frameworks such as React, Angular, or Django is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills help you collaborate effectively and adapt to changing project needs. These competencies enable the delivery of robust, scalable solutions across the entire software development lifecycle.

How do Full Stack Developers typically collaborate with designers and backend teams during a project?

Full Stack Developers often serve as a bridge between design and backend teams, ensuring seamless integration of user-facing features with server-side logic. They regularly participate in cross-functional meetings, provide technical input on UI/UX feasibility, and coordinate closely on API design and data flow. Effective communication and flexibility are essential, as Full Stack Developers may review code, suggest process improvements, and help troubleshoot issues across the entire tech stack. This teamwork not only enhances project outcomes but also broadens the developer's understanding of different disciplines, fostering career growth.

What is a Full Stack Developer?

A Full Stack Developer is a software engineer who is proficient in both front-end and back-end development. They are capable of designing, building, and maintaining all parts of a web application, including the user interface, server-side logic, databases, and sometimes even deployment and infrastructure. Full Stack Developers work with a variety of programming languages, frameworks, and tools to create seamless and scalable applications. Their versatility allows them to understand the entire development process and collaborate effectively with other team members.

As a full stack developer, you can resolve a problem with a complete end-to-end solution in a fast, agile environment. If you're looking for the chance to not just develop software, but to help create a system that will make a difference, we need you on our team. We're looking for a developer like you with an appetite to learn and the skills needed to develop software and systems from vision to production ready. This role is more than just coding. As a full stack developer, you'll use your passion to learn new tools and techniques and identify needed system improvements. You'll help clients overcome their most difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches, tools, and technologies. You'll help make sure the solution developed by the team considers the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements. Work with us as we shape systems for the better.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build responsive, accessible, and high-performing web applications using modern frameworks such as React and TypeScript, ensuring seamless user experiences across platforms.
  • Partner with backend developers, architects, and DevOps engineers to integrate front-end and back-end components using technologies like C#,.NET, and SQL/PostgreSQL.
  • Utilize Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps best practices to maintain code quality, ensure secure deployments, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance while recommending design and architectural improvements.
  • Support application development and deployment within AWS and other cloud environments, leveraging cloud-native tools for scalability and reliability.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to solution design discussions, and apply emerging technologies and frameworks to improve team efficiency and delivery.

You have:

  • 3+ years of experience with designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications
  • Experience with .NET and React
  • Experience with SQL (Postgres preferred) databases, familiarity with NoSQL technologies
  • Experience working in an Agile scrum team?
  • Ability to use back-end and front-end languages to develop complete solutions?
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice if you have:

  • 3+ years of experience with software engineering?
  • Experience with creating solutions to complex problems within a collaborative team environment?
  • Ability to acquire client requirements and resolve workflow problems through automation optimization?
  • Ability to work with automated testing tools to perform testing and maintenance?
  • Master's degree
