Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Lead to bridge the gap between Architecture and Development. This individual will serve as the technical leader for multiple development teams, ensuring architectural vision is successfully translated into high-quality, scalable solutions while driving projects to completion.

This is a highly collaborative leadership role requiring someone who can understand the "why" behind the business requirements, challenge assumptions when necessary, and guide development teams toward successful delivery. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable mentoring engineers, making technical decisions, and rolling up their sleeves to contribute code when needed.

This role is heavily focused on modern cloud-native development within AWS and requires strong experience building enterprise applications using Java/Spring Boot and React. Experience integrating with SAP or other enterprise ERP platforms is needed.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the technical bridge between Solution Architects and Development teams, ensuring architectural designs are implemented effectively.

  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions while understanding the business drivers behind each initiative.

  • Lead engineering teams through technical challenges and drive projects across the finish line.

  • Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, from design through deployment.

  • Mentor developers through code reviews, technical coaching, and best engineering practices.

  • Contribute hands-on development when needed, particularly on complex technical initiatives.

  • Partner with Solution Architects to maintain technical documentation, including C4 architecture models.

  • Establish and enforce development standards, coding best practices, and technical governance.

  • Ensure Epics, Features, and User Stories contain sufficient technical detail for efficient Agile delivery.

  • Identify technical risks early and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Guide troubleshooting efforts and resolve complex application issues.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and business stakeholders to align technology with business objectives.

  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, architecture, and software quality.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated experience leading development teams or serving as a Technical Lead.

  • Strong hands-on development experience with:

    • Java

    • Spring Boot

    • React

    • TypeScript

  • Experience developing cloud-native applications within AWS.

  • Ability to balance technical leadership with hands-on software development.

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.

  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.

  • Proven ability to mentor developers and influence technical direction across teams.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating enterprise applications with SAP (ECC, S/4HANA, Commerce, APO, HANA).

  • Candidates without SAP experience should have experience integrating with another enterprise ERP platform such as Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards, Infor, or similar systems.

  • Python development experience (FastAPI preferred).

  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.

  • Experience with Docker and Docker Compose.

  • GitLab CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, or SAM).

  • Event-driven architecture and messaging technologies.

  • Experience with C4 architecture modeling.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog.

Technical Environment

  • Java

  • Spring Boot

  • React

  • TypeScript

  • Node.js

  • AWS

  • Kubernetes

  • Docker

  • Git

  • GitLab CI/CD

  • REST APIs

  • Event-Driven Architecture

  • SAP (preferred)

  • Enterprise ERP Integrations

  • Python (nice to have)
