JOB LOCATION: LAGUNA BEACH, CA



Job Summary

The Detox Technician, Behavioral Health Technician, or Support Staff is a Driving position and works closely with each of the clients, under the Program Director, on an individual basis providing assistance in the areas of medication observation and medical appointment scheduling, as well as overall client health, in an intensive inpatient care facility serving dually diagnosed clients who are detoxing off alcohol and other drugs.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Follow all state of California rules and regulations concerning standards of care.
  • Works with Clinical Team and Program Director to oversee detoxification services.
  • Strictly enforce and support person served rights and confidentiality of information as required by HIPAA.
  • Provide supervision/ assistance to all persons served in medication offered and observed.
  • Provide medication education to clients and answer all questions regarding medications prescribed.
  • Promote and maintain good communication and cooperative working relationships with staff, family members, and related treatment team persons.
  • Demonstrate consistent and comprehensive knowledge of skills required to perform job duties and responsibilities.
  • Participates in documentation of behaviors and communicates to supervising staff promptly.
  • Responsible for new client admission assessments, and all related procedures as well as setting up for doctor visits
  • Observation of detoxification clients, documentation, audit functions, and record keeping of all observed/inventoried/destroyed/prescribed medications
  • Assessment of patients with addiction and mental health conditions and assisting in ascertaining clinical medication management with Nurse Practitioner and Medical Director.
  • Observation, documentation, and record keeping of client health status.
  • Responsible for medication management and refilling of appropriate medications as well as d/c of medications.
  • Responsible to document nursing progress notes, MAR’s, including communicating to staff by phone and/or email.
  • Documentation of BAC, vital signs, COWS, CIWAS, behavior changes, medication responses and illness.
  • Works closely with Clinical Team on client health status and presenting conditions.
  • Manages complete Medication Administration Record Sheets and system.
  • Pick up medications/ other medical supplies/ interact with medical director
  • Work closely with Program and Clinical Director to provide education and counseling for clients and other organizational health care providers
  • Supervise client drug screening process and record Urine Analysis results.
  • Work with Case Management Assuring the prompt coordination of transportation of person served to appointments made with proper documentation
  • Work closely with clinicians to assure a clear and concise line of communication
  • Follow daily shift responsibilities as designed by DCCC.
  • Assist/supervise/monitor in the maintenance and cleanliness of facility
  • Support and implement New Leaf Detox and Treatment philosophy with reference to all program components and person served personal dignity.
  • Implement Recovery concepts and promote sobriety
  • And, other duties as assigned.


This is an opening for Swing shift only- t230pm to 11pm!!! Must have a clean driving record for the last 5 years- no violations, tickets or accidents, including suspensions of any kind, must pass drug screen prior to employment


On site position- driving privileges required



Job Types: Full-time


Pay: $21.00 per hour DOE


Expected hours: 40 per week
