Job description

A growing women's health program north of Portland, Maine is seeking a BC/BE OB-GYN Nocturnist to provide inpatient obstetric coverage in a collaborative, community-focused hospital setting.


Position Highlights:
  • Dedicated OB-GYN Nocturnist position
  • Approximately 11 shifts per month
  • Primarily overnight coverage with some weekend daytime shifts
  • 12-hour shifts with flexible scheduling options
  • Opportunity for block scheduling
  • Inpatient-focused role with no outpatient clinic responsibilities
  • Provide labor & delivery triage, admissions, and emergency obstetric care
  • Perform vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections as needed
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies and urgent interventions
  • Collaborate closely with OB/GYN physicians, midwives, anesthesia providers, pediatric teams, residents, medical students, and nursing staff
  • Approximately 900 deliveries annually
  • Level II NICU with in-house pediatrics and anesthesia support
  • Support patient safety, quality initiatives, and evidence-based clinical care
  • Strong work-life balance with a defined nocturnist schedule


Qualifications:

  • MD or DO
  • BC/BE in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Eligible for Maine medical licensure
  • Strong labor & delivery and obstetric emergency management experience
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Fluency in Lingala, French, Portuguese, or Somali is a plus
