Introduction
Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated IT professionals who will sustain, modernize and transform the enterprise IT capabilities of the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). The Air Force Space and Intel (AFSI) Business Group of SAIC is seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer with macOS focus to support a transformational infrastructure program for DCSA out of Quantico, VA.
SAIC is proud to be supporting DCSA in safeguarding our nation's information. DCSA is the designated oversight authority on the accreditation of classified facilities, information systems, and the insider threat program. This involves security oversight of more than 10,000 companies and approximately 13,000 facilities involved in classified work throughout the DoD and 31 Federal agencies.
Specifically, on the DCSA One IT program, SAIC will provide an enterprise IT solution that delivers highly secured and adaptable IT infrastructure, provides customer support, an cutting-edge technologies that support operations and advance the DCSA mission under a single IT environment (i.e., One IT).
This role requires a strong background in macOS endpoint administration, mobile device management, Jamf Pro, endpoint security, and DoD compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing Apple systems in a secure enterprise environment, supporting mission users, enforcing configuration baselines, and ensuring compliance with applicable federal and DoD cybersecurity standards.
Job Description
The Senior Desktop Engineer will be responsible for the administration, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of macOS systems, including MacBooks, iMacs, and other Apple endpoints. The position will support secure device management, policy enforcement, system monitoring, patching, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance within the DCSA One IT environment.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Provision, configure, and maintain macOS environments while ensuring compliance with DoD security guidelines.
  • Administer and support Jamf Pro or comparable mobile device management solutions for macOS endpoint management.
  • Manage device enrollment, configuration profiles, policies, patching workflows, software deployment, and security enforcement.
  • Support macOS endpoint lifecycle activities, including imaging, deployment, upgrades, refresh, and retirement.
  • Implement and maintain secure configurations aligned with federal and DoD security requirements, including RMF, DISA STIGs, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Troubleshoot macOS hardware, operating system, application, network, authentication, and user configuration issues.
  • Support integration of Apple systems with enterprise services, including identity management, authentication, certificate-based access, VPN, Wi-Fi, DNS, and secure network resources.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for macOS platforms, Apple applications, and related enterprise services.
  • Assist with iTunes, iCloud, Apple Business Manager, and related Apple services where applicable in a secure enterprise environment.
  • Collaborate with Windows, Linux, cybersecurity, network, and infrastructure teams to resolve cross-platform issues.
  • Develop and maintain scripts using Bash, Python, AppleScript, or similar tools to automate macOS configuration, deployment, compliance reporting, and remediation tasks.
  • Support DoD CAC integration and secure authentication for macOS platforms.
  • Document installation, configuration, troubleshooting, patching, and operational support procedures.
  • Maintain accurate asset, configuration, and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in audits, vulnerability reviews, security assessments, and incident response documentation related to macOS systems.
  • Provide input to leadership on strategic IT planning and implementation of Apple technologies in a DoD enterprise environment.
  • Engage with customers, end users, project stakeholders, and federal IT teams to deliver secure and reliable IT services.

Qualifications
It is required that the Senior Desktop Engineer with macOS focus have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and Nine (9) or more years or relevant years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • US Citizen and Active Top Secret clearance w/SCI eligibility is required.
  • Security+ CE or equivalent DoD 8570 / 8140 IAT-II certification is required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years experience with macOS troubleshooting and MDM backend management.
  • Extensive experience administering, managing, and troubleshooting macOS systems in enterprise, federal, DoD, classified, or controlled environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Jamf Pro or another enterprise MDM solution used to manage macOS endpoints.
  • Experience with macOS device enrollment, configuration profiles, policy enforcement, software deployment, patching, and compliance reporting.
  • Strong understanding of macOS security controls, endpoint hardening, and secure system administration.
  • Experience applying or supporting DoD cybersecurity requirements, including RMF, DISA STIGs, vulnerability remediation, and secure configuration baselines.
  • Familiarity with Apple Business Manager and enterprise Apple device lifecycle management.
  • Experience troubleshooting macOS hardware, operating systems, applications, user accounts, permissions, certificates, and network connectivity.
  • Understanding of enterprise networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi, and authentication protocols.
  • Experience supporting CAC authentication or certificate-based authentication in secure environments.
  • Scripting experience using Bash, Python, AppleScript, or similar languages.
  • Ability to document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, compliance actions, and operational processes.
  • Ability to work onsite in a mission-focused DoD customer environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical teams, end users, federal stakeholders, and program leadership.
