Summary

Our client, a leading utility engineering and construction company recognized as a Best Choice Employer for Utility and Network Construction, is seeking an Electrical Designer to develop detailed electrical designs and construction drawings for utility infrastructure projects. Specializing in telecommunications, electric utility, low-voltage technology, structured cabling, security, fiber infrastructure, engineering, surveying, and design services, the company is known for its long-term customer relationships, employee ownership, profit-sharing opportunities, commitment to safety, and career development.

In this role, you will prepare manual and electronic design drawings, including wiring diagrams and layout drawings, while ensuring all work complies with industry standards and quality assurance requirements. The ideal candidate has strong AutoCAD or GIS experience, excellent technical and mathematical skills, and the ability to independently manage design work for complex projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed electrical designs, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and construction documents for utility infrastructure projects.
  • Develop manual and electronic design drawings using AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Review design work and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and company QA/QC requirements.
  • Plan and manage design assignments to meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members throughout the design process.
  • Perform calculations and apply engineering principles to support accurate and efficient project designs.
  • Maintain design documentation and ensure all revisions are properly recorded.
  • Support continuous improvement of design standards and processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD; GIS experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to learn and implement company-specific design and operating standards.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and design compliance requirements.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry, for complex design calculations.
  • Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and complete designs for large and complex systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical design regulations, codes, and industry standards.
