They use their artistic skills and technical knowledge to communicate ideas, solve problems, and enhance the visual appeal of products, spaces, or digital experiences. Designers often collaborate with clients or teams to understand project goals and ensure that the final product meets functional and aesthetic requirements. The field offers diverse career paths, with opportunities in both freelance and corporate settings.

Job description

Benefits:
  • Self-gen leads with higher commission
  • Bonus based on performance
  • Training & development
  • Flexible schedule

Part-Time | 1099 Independent Contractor | Tampa-Bay
You’ll design in someone’s kitchen—opening cabinets, taking measurements, learning how the family actually cooks and lives, then creating two or three solutions and pricing them together at the counter.
There’s a moment when a homeowner realizes the problem that has frustrated them for years is actually solvable—and you get to be there for it.
Art of Drawers creates custom pull-out drawers and storage solutions for existing cabinets. Our designers come from design, real estate, retail, restaurants, and many backgrounds outside traditional sales. No design degree is required.
What You’ll Do
• Conduct one- to three-hour design appointments in customers’ homes.
• Measure cabinets and create customized storage solutions.
• Present designs and pricing during the appointment.
• Follow up with customers and manage your sales pipeline.
• Generate referrals and build relationships throughout Tampa Bay.
Our certified installers handle every installation.
What You Get
Uncapped Commission: Earn commission on every sale, with additional monthly performance bonuses. No base pay or salary.
Greater Earnings on Self-Generated Customers: Earn more when you bring in your own clients.
Flexible Schedule: Manage your own calendar and availability.
Paid Company Appointments: Become eligible to receive company-generated appointments after certification.
Hands-On Training: Learn design, quoting, and sales directly from the owner.
Who Does Well Here
• You enjoy solving practical design problems.
• You ask more than you pitch.
• You’re comfortable presenting pricing and asking for the sale.
• You can follow a proven process while managing your own calendar.
• You have strong people skills, personal drive, and attention to detail.
• You have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and your own phone and computer.
What to Know Going In
  1. This is a commission-only 1099 opportunity with no base pay or hourly wage. Appointment volume typically ranges from 1–10 appointments per week.
  2. Your first five practice appointments will come from your personal network. Most designers complete certification within their first 30 days and then become eligible for paid company appointments.
  3. Depending on sales performance, earning potential may be equivalent to approximately $70–$120 per appointment hour.
Read that and still interested? You’re probably who we’re looking for.
