IT Manager, Business Systems
*** Please note that this is a HYBRID role, requiring this person to work at our Cottonwood Heights office in SLC ***

Job Summary
The Manager, Business Systems is the trusted technology partner for Extra Space Storage's back-office business teams - Operations, Accounting, Facilities, and other corporate functions. Partnering with business stakeholders through a technology steering committee, this role helps shape priorities and the roadmap for the business applications portfolio (Salesforce, Dynamics 365, OutSystems, Atlassian, Oomnitza, and Smartsheet) and leads a team that delivers those commitments with high-quality, well-supported solutions across the enterprise.
Duties & Responsibilities

Business Partnership

Serve as the primary technology partner for Operations, Accounting, Facilities, and other corporate functions, building trusted relationships with business leaders.

Participate in the technology steering committee that sets enterprise priorities and shapes the roadmap; bring technology expertise, options, and tradeoff analysis to those discussions.

Facilitate intake, demand-prioritization, and capacity-planning processes that inform the steering committee's decisions and ensure the highest-value work moves forward.

Application Portfolio & Delivery

Translate the steering committee's priorities into a sequenced, executable roadmap for the business applications portfolio.

Own the health and performance of platforms including Salesforce, Dynamics 365, OutSystems, Atlassian, Oomnitza, and Smartsheet.

Govern solution design and integration strategy across the portfolio, including iPaaS / API patterns that connect CRM, ERP, HRIS, and operational systems.

Lead the full delivery lifecycle - intake, design, build, test, deploy, and support - applying Agile / Scrum and modern DevOps practices.

Ensure SOX IT general controls, change management evidence, and audit readiness across owned applications.

Team Leadership

Hire, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing team of business systems engineers and analysts.

Set clear technical direction and performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Mentor team members on technical craft, business acumen, and stakeholder partnership.

Vendor & Financial Management

Manage strategic vendor and SaaS partner relationships, including contract negotiation, renewals, SLAs, and license optimization.

Develop and manage the business applications budget; provide business cases for major investments.


Qualifications

4+ years in IT, business systems, or enterprise applications.

1-3 years of supervisory experience.

Demonstrated experience as a trusted technology partner to business functions such as Operations, Accounting, or Finance.

Experienced in vendor selection assessments and contract negotiations.

Hands-on or oversight experience with one or more of the platforms in scope (e.g., Salesforce, Dynamics 365, OutSystems, Atlassian, Oomnitza, Smartsheet).

Experience operating in a publicly traded company with SOX IT general controls and audit obligations.


Competencies

Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Demonstrated leadership in building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams.

Fluency in Agile / Scrum delivery, ITIL / ITSM practices, and modern DevOps for business applications.

Knowledge of SOX IT general controls and audit obligations.

Excellent written and verbal communication.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Performs sedentary work in an office environment with limited lifting (less than 10 pounds) or walking required. Close visual acuity required to perform work at computer terminal. No exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires repetitive typing motion, talking, hearing, grasping and feeling.
