General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS-C) is a global defence industry leader in providing land and amphibious combat vehicle solutions. Based in London, ON, the Canadian operations employ approximately 1,700 people who design, manufacture, and support light and medium armoured vehicles. Our specialists are among Canada’s finest in the defence industry who excel in the areas of mechanical engineering, survivability, mobility, research & development, prototyping, production support, and systems integration. We are driven by the need to provide innovative solutions to our customers and continuously strive to create new technologies that we can use to build cutting-edge solutions.

The anticipated start date for the role is June 2026, with an expected 8 to 12 month term. However, a variety of start dates and durations for this role are possible. Feel free to indicate your availability on your application. The pay range for this position is $27.25-$27.75 per hour.

About the Opportunity

GDLS-C is offering qualified students the opportunity to enhance their work experience with a full-time Designer Student role on their Design Services Team. Designers will support the Design Services and Design Engineering Teams through various responsibilities.

Job Summary:

  • Use Siemens NX Software to develop 3D part models for mobile defence subsystems with supervision from experienced senior designers or design engineers
  • Develop layouts, assemblies, and detail drawings from sketches, notes or direction from senior designers or design engineers using SAE and MIL standards
  • Perform dynamic motion and interference analyses using Siemens NX and Teamcenter Visualization Mockup applications
  • Work in the Teamcenter Product Data Management application to release designs for procurement
  • Incorporate engineering change requests into existing designs
  • Assist as necessary in the development of departmental processes, standards and related documentation

About You

  • Completed 2 years of a University Degree or College Diploma in an Engineering technical discipline
  • Experience using 3D design software such as Siemens NX, Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor
  • Knowledge of the application and interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Possess or be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
  • Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space
