Job description

Job Summary:
The Marketing and Communications Design Intern will play a crucial role in creating engaging and impactful content for both internal and external audiences of our nonprofit healthcare system. Working closely with the Marketing Specialist, the intern will utilize tools such as Adobe Suite, Canva, and other relevant software to develop multimedia content that aligns with our in-house style and brand guidelines while adhering strictly to HIPAA and high reliability organization guidelines.
Pay rate: $16.50 hourly
If applicant is interested in course credit, this is a 120 hour opportunity over 12 weeks. Consecutive internships may be possible.
  • Design Intern reports to Marketing Graphics Specialist.
  • Hours: 10 hours/week split over 2 days, 12 weeks, 120 hours.
  • Internship is on-site at South County Hospital in Wakefield, RI.

Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with internal departments and the Marketing team to design a wide range of collateral, including but not limited to fliers, brochures, posters, invitations, social media posts, digital and print ads, email templates, and more.
  2. Assist with fundraising initiatives for South County Health Foundation, including but not limited to: end of year appeals, event invitations, employee campaign materials, as well as play a role in ongoing campaigns for a comprehensive Breast Health Center at South County Hospital.
  3. Work independently and collaboratively with the Marketing team on multiple projects, meeting deadlines effectively.
  4. Ensure designs meet brand standards, accurately conveying ideas and representing the organization appropriately.
  5. Gather feedback from the marketing team and incorporate revisions into design projects as necessary.
  6. Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:
  1. Proficiency in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva, and other relevant software.
  2. Strong understanding of design principles, techniques, typography, color theory, Image selection
  3. Knowledge of branding principles and ability to maintain consistency with organizational brand guidelines.
  4. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Design Intern will work with and provide deliverables to many people across the organization, so effective and timely communication is critical.
  5. Strong attention to detail.
  6. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  7. Sensitivity to the confidentiality and privacy concerns inherent in healthcare settings, with a commitment to upholding HIPAA guidelines.
