Job Description:

Job Summary: Engineering Technical Aide Intern will work with the lifecycle of technical documentation, manage engineering databases, and support the design dataset release process. As your capabilities expand, your responsibilities will evolve, offering you an insider's look at real-world aerospace workflows and the unique opportunity to develop high-demand CATIA drafting skills. This position is a stepping stone into other Engineering Intern positions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Document Search and Storage 45%

  • Search for technical documents in different relevant databases

  • Release documents into the ADS/EDS Database System

  • Provide the engineering team with the appropriate technical document templates

  • Support various engineering database system operations and processes.

  • Support Functional Review Process and Design Dataset releases.

Document Maintenance 40%

  • Initiate engineering documents by creating issue/reference numbers

  • Review technical documents for appropriate format, grammar, and syntax.

  • Gather signatures on documents ready for release.

  • Create Adobe PDF files of current documents.

  • Electronically scan documents into the appropriate libraries.

  • Coordinate drawing distribution.

Document Authoring 10%

  • Assist in the development of presentation material (predominantly illustration development and data presentation.)

  • Create and Revise technical documents according to document mark-ups and guidance from Technical leadership.

  • Create and Revise Project related documents

Additional Responsibilities:

Other duties as assigned: 5%

  • Maintain Technical Signature forms for each engineer in the team

  • Print documents or information at the request of the engineer

  • Assist in coordination as required with Customers and Suppliers

  • Develop CATIA skills to eventually provide drafting support for the engineering team


Qualified Experience and Training:

Education:

Required

  • Current student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace/Mechanical/Civil Engineering degree. Curriculum exposure in airframe design, static analysis, mechanics of materials, and/or a CAD application is desired.

  • Currently pursuing a Minor in Computer Science

Experience:

  • Must be currently located in the Wichita, KS metro area as this is a multi-semester, onsite work opportunity.

  • Proficiency with MS Office and G-Suite.

  • Airframe design, MRB, CATIA, ISAMI, PATRAN, and NASTRAN.

  • Google Site development and/or maintenance.

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs; once a month.

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools; once a month.

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer; daily.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices; daily.

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice; 10% of the time.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces; daily.

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visit, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
