Job Purpose

The Design Engineer supports all aspects of battery development and manufacture from concept, quotation, prototyping, detailed design, process development, validation, cost reduction, quality assurance, to qualification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review customer requests for quotes (RFQs) and estimate engineering man-hours required to perform related tasks.
  • Generate battery designs from customer supplied requirements such as power, energy, and size envelope specifications.
  • Refine battery designs through prototype fabrication and testing.
  • Create detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Develop manufacturing processes.
  • Design manufacturing tools and fixtures.
  • Specify and deploy custom automated equipment.
  • Create and execute process validation plans.
  • Create work instructions.
  • Improve processes to reduce manufacturing scrap.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve product quality. 
Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
  • 0-3 years in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Prior experience in lean manufacturing.
  • Experience in AS9100
  • Experience in ISO 13485
