Description:

The Senior Network Engineer/Architect will serve as the client's Senior technical resource for enterprise network architecture, engineering, and modernization initiatives. This individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing large-scale network infrastructure across the site, data center, cloud, wired, and wireless environments while supporting the long-term vision for the client's Enterprise Data Network (EDN). The role requires expertise in advanced routing and switching, network security technologies, infrastructure modernization, and network automation to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, engineer, and implement enterprise network infrastructure solutions across campus, data center, cloud, wired, and wireless environments
  • Develop scalable and resilient network architectures that align with institutional business and technology objectives
  • Lead network modernization initiatives, including remediation of aging infrastructure and lifecycle planning efforts
  • Design and support network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, Network Access Control (NAC), and security policies.
  • Develop and maintain network automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
  • Monitor network health, capacity, performance, and operational metrics to improve reliability and service delivery.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, incident response, and Tier III support for complex network issues.
  • Create and maintain network architecture documentation, standards, diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Services, Facilities Planning, vendors, and other stakeholders on critical infrastructure initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced Routing & Switching Experience: Proven experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise routing and switching environments in large, complex network infrastructures.
  • Network Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code Experience: Hands-on experience developing and maintaining network automation solutions using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, or similar orchestration platforms.
  • Network Security Infrastructure Experience: Experience implementing and supporting firewalls, VPNs, Network Access Control (NAC), and network security policies within enterprise environments.
  • Enterprise Network Architecture & Modernization Experience: Experience leading enterprise network design, infrastructure upgrades, and modernization initiatives to improve resiliency, scalability, and operational performance.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Cloud Networking Experience: Experience designing and supporting networking within AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Cisco Enterprise Networking Experience: Experience supporting Cisco enterprise networking technologies, including software-defined networking (SDN) environments.
  • CCNP Cert.

  • This is a 9-12 month contract opportunity with the possibility of extension. This is an onsite role at the client.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
