Position Title: Graphic Design Instructor

Location: CDI College - Edmonton West Campus (In-Person / On-Campus)

Position Type: Permanent, Part-Time

Compensation: $28.00 - $30.00 / hour

Reports To: Campus Director / Campus Coordinator

Position Purpose

The Graphic Design Instructor plays a vital role in shaping the creative and professional success of our students. By delivering engaging, hands-on instruction aligned with our prescribed curriculum, the Instructor fosters a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for rewarding careers in the design industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruction & Facilitation: Deliver compelling, structured lessons using a variety of teaching methods to meet module and program objectives.

  • Student Engagement & Evaluation: Assess student progress, provide constructive individual and group feedback, maintain accurate attendance records, and complete final grading within 5 working days of course completion.

  • Curriculum & Course Management: Prepare lesson plans, explain course outlines clearly, and utilize/update online course materials to ensure alignment with current industry standards and textbooks.

  • Professional Collaboration: Work cooperatively with campus administration, staff, and fellow instructors, attending mandatory meetings and Orientation Days as required.

  • Industry Currency: Maintain active knowledge and skills in graphic design and digital media tools to ensure teachings remain relevant to current job market demands.

  • Policy Compliance: Uphold CDI College's policies, procedures, and code of conduct with the utmost integrity, professionalism, and respect.

Position RequirementsCompetencies & Skills
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of the Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and related modern digital design workflows).

  • Communication & Leadership: Advanced oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to motivate, inspire, and facilitate group learning.

  • Interpersonal Excellence: Patient, empathetic, and equitable approach to student needs, fostering a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

  • Professional Standards: High commitment to organization, reliability, and continuous professional development.

Education & Experience
  • Education: A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design or a related college diploma in Graphic Design.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of practical, real-world work experience in the graphic design field.

  • Asset: Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience in an educational or corporate setting.
