About the Role: Your Impact

As a Transportation Specialist, you are a critical link in Wayfair's logistics network, responsible for optimizing the supply chain and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. You are the key contact for coordinating and managing the movement of freight, maintaining precise inventory fidelity in warehouse systems, and proactively resolving transportation issues. Your primary goal is to ensure "perfect" orders run smoothly from the moment they're received at the terminal until they are dispatched for final-mile delivery.

Why Join Our Team? (Your Perks & Growth)

  • Competitive Pay: The listed pay rate/range is just the start with potential for OT, shift differential, and bonuses.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Potential for medical, dental, vision, 401 (k) match, and paid time off based on role type.

  • Safety First Culture: We are relentlessly focused on a safe work environment for all employees.

  • Growth Opportunities: We value data-driven decisions and promote from within, offering clear paths for career advancement in operations, team leadership, and management.

What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities)

Your duties focus on logistics execution, inventory reconciliation, and route management:

  • Route & Dispatch Management: Review and scrub daily route publishing for accuracy, including identifying issues like address discrepancies, cube issues, and geocode problems. Assign drivers and tablets to routes. Oversee loadout processes, including troubleshooting driver questions and managing rescheduled stops.

  • Exception & Inventory Reconciliation: Identify and reconcile inbound and outbound exceptions (e.g., damage, short shipments, mis-shipments, overweight cartons). Monitor inventory accuracy and perform regular scrubs of cycle count results. Inventory and process freight returning after a missed or refused delivery.

  • Reverse Logistics & Paperwork: Manage reverse logistics by setting up schedules for outgoing freight (returns, liquidation, donation, disposal) and maintaining carrier relationships. Print any necessary paperwork for delivery teams (e.g., BOLs), correcting errors as needed.

  • Communication & Reporting: Write and distribute an "end of shift" report to all terminal staff and necessary partner teams. Communicate with routing teams regarding route data, capacity, and stop adjustments. Support Customer Service and other partner teams to maintain high customer satisfaction.

  • Operational Support: Assist with direct warehouse tasks (e.g., loading/unloading, deluxing, picking) when staffing levels require additional support. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

What You’ll Need (Minimum Requirements)
  • Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in a similar role is required. Experience in Logistics or Transportation is highly preferred. A BA/BS is preferred.

  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer-centric approach. Ability to multitask and navigate through various systems and tools. Must be well-organized and detail-oriented.

  • Technical Acumen: Comfort with Microsoft Office and learning new technologies. Proficiency with systems like Descartes and other inventory/order processing software is a plus.

  • Physical Capability:

    • The ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work a full shift (8+ hours a day) in a dynamic, non-climate-controlled warehouse environment.

    • The ability to frequently lift and move merchandise up to 75+ lbs. unassisted.

  • Education/Experience (Preferred): High School diploma or GED is preferable. Previous warehouse experience is preferable.
